Description:

I'm a little disappointed that there aren't very many crochet or knitting swaps. I'm here to change that.

You like to crochet or knit? Wanna show off your talents? Now's your chance. It doesn't have to be anything humongous... Here are some ideas/suggestions:

-scarf

-hat

-mittens/gloves

-baby/pet blanket (if they have baby/pet)

-baby anything (if they have or know a baby)

-socks

-pet toy (if have pet)

-scoodie

-boot covers

-headband

-scrunchie

-bag/purse

-pillow

-amigurami

-wraps

-dish cloth

The list is endless as to what you can achieve. It's difficult to put a dollar amount on a handmade item. I say whatever you're comfortable swapping - go for it. Take your time with this... No junkie items. I don't know how else to say that, but I think you know what I mean. Send something that you would love to receive, and most importantly - have fun with this. Here are my requirements for this particular swap:

-minimum rating of 4.98

-at least 30 type 3s

-if you don't have the funding to send the swap... Do not sign up

-no flakers. Period.

-does not have to be profile based

-Communicate, communicate, communicate... Let your partner know what's going on

-This isn't required, but it would be nice if the item was washed first before sending. It makes the finished product a little less stiff - and it will be clean. But again... Ask your partner if they have a soap sensitivity if you're going to wash your handcraft. Follow yarn instructions on how to wash.

-Write a little letter introducing yourself. What did you do this holiday season? How long have you been knitting/crocheting? Write about your favorite things to crochet/knit. We could make some penpals through this swap - who knows!

-put your name or user ID on your letter so your partner can appropriately rate you.

-Please rate fairly. If they sent you their swap on time - give them a 5. If they sent late, but communicated that they needed more time - give them a 5. If they sent you something you don't have any use for (ex: you don't wear hats) - give them a 5 anyway. That is a craft they worked diligently on that has their own personal flare and I feel like that should've been communicated before they started working on it. If they sent you absolutely nothing and you've tried to get a hold of them - reserve your right to give them a 3 or 1 (let me know too so I can ban them from future swaps and angel).

I know it's a head full of information, but I wanna make sure nobody gets ripped off in any of my swaps. I reserve my right to ban anyone I think is not going to follow through. As mentioned previously - have fun with this! I wanna see what somebody else can do with their talents. :)

EDIT

Hey guys. I noticed that a lot of you still haven't sent your swaps yet. I've extended the deadline so you will all have another week to ship your swap. 1/12 is the new deadline - don't forget!

Hi, I'd really like to join this swap but I just recently joined swapbot and have no ratings yet sadly so I'm not qualified to join the swap. Is there any way that you could possibly let me join? I love to crochet and feel that this will be a really fun swap! Please get back to me, thanks.

@kaelsmails - welcome to swapbot! It is difficult being new on swapbot, and it's awesome that you like to crochet. I typically don't like putting high expectations on my own swaps, but for swaps like these (especially around the holidays when people get flaked on the most). I'm not saying that you would, but it's really the only way hosts can get a better idea of who is going to follow through in a swap, you know? Maybe if this one goes well, I'll have another crochet swap. My advice for right now is to get as many swaps in (ATCs, cards, tea swaps, etc are easy type 3s that rack up quickly), get good ratings, and in time you can join just as many cool swaps.
