Description:

It's probably about time I rewrite the swap in my own words! Thanks to the two previous hosts before me that hosted this swap!

In this swap series we're creating butterfly pass & paste handmade postcards. 4x6 inches is a great postcard size as it fits in a lot of envelopes so I highly recommend a postcard around that size. But definitely don't make them larger than 5x7 Inches.

If you have a previous postcard, add your butterfly art to the picture side, add at least your profile name to the address side. Many of us also write the date and/or swap round, we may write where we're from, real name, and we may write something about our art but that is all optional past your profile name. When you're artist #4, put the appropriate postage (postcard rate if it works, some may need first class if larger size, international rate if going internationally) and send it home.

If this is your first pass & paste or if you had to send one home, this is how you can start a new one:

Again, I will stress a size close to 4x6 inches is ideal for this project. It should be on material that will ideally make it through the postage system such as cardstock or blank thinner cardboard you're recycling from something else. There are also preprinted blank postcards you can purchase.

On one side split into 4 art regions by drawing lines. It can be four equal sized rectangles or you can be more creative in the size of the four regions and they don't have to all be equal in size. I've seen quite a few variations in this swap and a public pass &paste I participate in. On the address side the swap name is whichever round you're making this for and you put your address, handwritten or address label on the right side for when it is completed to be sent back. Do not put postage, this is a USA&Canada swap. Number the left 1 2 3 4 for the artists to write their name. You don't need to decorate box 1, you get to send it undecorated! However, if you really want your own art on the card you certainly are allowed to complete one of your own boxes.

Any art style allowed, painting, drawing, zentangle, mixed media but keep it relatively flat, scrapbooking style, cut outs, fancy stickers or nice scrapbooking stickers, punchies, found images...Etc. art should contain at least one butterfly.

You put it in an envelope and mail it to your assigned partner.

The postcard makes its way to 4 others through various series rounds then person 4 mails it home to you!

Open to all USA & Canadian group members. I do check profiles before assigning and will remove if necessary but will try to contact member first if it is something that can be cleared up.

If at some point you no longer wish to participate, you can mail the unfinished postcard home in an envelope to its owner with a quick note then they can decide to put it back in to be finished or not or you can always pm me for my address and send it to me and I can add to it and get it in the rounds as needed. We definitely want everyone's butterflies to fly home!

If I forgot anything in the directions, please let me know!

Another idea...When making a new PC the art side doesn't have to be blank...It can be a background that is easy to apply art to...I'll keep the technique a surprise for those that receive this PC to add to for now but thanks @AZmom875 for the fun idea!
