World Letter Writing Day

I like the concept, but with no rating requirements, I see this being a giant flaker fest. There are already a lot of problematic swappers signed up so I'm inclined to stop watching :-/

I really like the idea of this swap, but I have arthritis and have had surgery on both hands, and I cannot write this much without great difficulty and less than legible handwriting. I would love to join, and I promise to use a handwriting font, so I hope you could make an exception for me, and anyone else with a similar problem.

@Hugsie86 - will do! Thanks! I got tossed out of my very first swap I signed up for. It even said "newbies welcome" which I have learned is a lie with most of these swaps. So I assume I'll get tossed out of most that are more than postcards. But yes, if (when) I get my rejection email from this one (LOL) I'll send you a message and if you'd be agreeable I'd like to swap letters!

@AMDteachnskate ypou will not be getting kicked out , you have a well filled out profile and positive feedback so far and are have logged on recently so you tick all 3 of what i look for :)

@diariesofamum - thank you! I had hopped out to be able to sign up for a few more that had recent due dates. But I'm signing back into this one. I actually just completely a letter writing swap for newbies and it was terrific! I got use my type writer, which is a treat!

What size paper is A5?

A5 paper is roughly 5x8, correct?

Can we write the letters sooner than sept 1st?

I am also a newbie hoping to not get bounced ( although I have not gotten tossed from any swaps this far) . I have completed swaps but still waiting on ratings. I'm a pen pal -we already, but this swap sounds like a fun way to connect to new people. Happy to join in!

Someone commented, in part "There are already a lot of problematic swappers signed up...". I'm pretty new here and am curious... How does one see who has already signed up for a swap if she is not the Coordinator, which this person does not seem to be?

@NRGordon if you join the swap then in the upper right box you can click on view participants. There you can do a quick check on all of their rating scores and click on them individually to view profiles. Many of us do this so that we can see if a swap seems safe or pleasant to us or if we suspect there will be issues. You can always move back to watchlist if needed or drop it entirely before the sign up is due.

Hi, I am newbie here. But i really loved letter writing and enjoying it very much.

I joined and reviewed the participants, sadly I have to bow out (before partners are assigned) as I can't control who is assigned to me and such they is some swappers I refuse to swap with involved. I am open to new pen pals and private swaps if some are open to this. Feel free to message me.

Hi all partners now assigned, sorry for delay it has taken a while to go through all profiles, every still in has met the requirements i set in the post, sorry for anyone not happy with that but i wanted it to be open to lots of people to celebrate world letter writing day.

I have already said i will angel if required so please get in touch in a couple of weeks if both letters haven't arrived

September 1 is a Saturday...do they have to be POSTMARKED on the first? Our post office closes at noon on Saturdays.

I received both of mine @dandelion but both mine came from relatively close. I expect it will take up to a few weeks for some to arrive if sending abroad.

The letter i sent abroud has already arrived. Its the letter within the Netherlands im concerned about.

I sent. I recieved.. I rated both the letters I got, however.. it seems neither of my sent letters reached their destinations to the US.. and neither a response in message to those I sent out to. I feel rather disappointed here.. it's sad to say the least.

I got rated for 1 letter I mailed. The other, unrated yet the participator has been off line since Sept 11. I also have not gotten either of my 2 letters from assigned partners. Sent them each a note of this. Happy that 1 partner got back to me to advise she has resent. The other one never read my message Oct 7, so today I must rate her a 1. So disappointing.
