Description:

You will send one partner one ATC which you make using the following steps. Some steps require specific TH material to be used and are in bold text so be sure you have them!

1 Grab one white or light colored ATC blank.

2 You will be attempting to create either a northern lights or starry sky in your background. So grab either distress ink or distress oxide ink in at least four of the following colors:

  • Weathered Wood
  • Stormy Sky
  • Chipped Sapphire
  • Wilted Violet
  • Hickory Smoke
  • Dusty Concord
  • Victorian Velvet
  • Faded Jeans
  • Iced Spruce
  • Pumice Stone
If you don't have 4 of the above colors please let me know so I can add more or feel free to suggest them!

3 Use blending foam tool or brush to apply each ink color to your ATC. in different areas.

4 Lightly mist with water once and immediately blot the water up with a dry cloth. This should start to give the effect that light droplets appear. You can also use the spritz & flick technique to get bigger droplets, just squirt some water onto your fingers and flick your fingers over the ATC. Again, immediately blot the water up with a dry cloth (don't wipe).

5 Once you're happy with the number of light droplets, heat to set.

6 Grab either distress ink or distress oxide ink in 3 of the following colors (DOX will have the best effect!):

  • Fossilized Amber
  • Scattered Straw
  • Picked Raspberry
  • Twisted Citron
  • Wild Honey
  • Shaded Lilac
  • Mustard Seed
  • Crushed Olive
  • Salty Ocean
  • Broken China

7 Dab a small amount of each in separate areas of your craft mat. Give a couple squirts with water to activate. Take a medium sized paintbrush and use it to pick up one color and splatter on to your ATC.

8 Repeat step 7 with different colors until you are happy with the result, remember you're trying to get a northern lights or starry sky look.

9 Add any Tim Holtz related embellishment or stamped imaged that you think looks nice against your background.

10 Attach a sturdy backing to your ATCs which includes at least the ATC title, your username, and date. Send your ATC to your partner.

I hope to host more of these but need to know what TH products everyone owns, so please comment on this thread.

If you have any questions, sending a pm is the quickest way to reach me. I do try to check for comments on my swaps but sometimes I am not timely :-/

If there any issues with your partner following steps please inform @choke before rating down. I think it is common sense that there is always a chance that the steps were misinterpreted so some graciousness should be allowed here.

As always I will angel if you are flaked on but only if you have rated your partner a 1.

Hi! I’m just wondering why this is considered a type 1 swap? It looks awesome.

My bad, thanks for pointing that out! I sometimes go through the creation process to quickly and miss that. blush
