Description:

Hooray! It’s almost Christmas time! Everyone loves advent calendars, where you get a little surprise each day, and this is a chance to make a stationery themed advent swap for your partner.

For this swap, you will be sending your partner 24 small items, wrapped in holiday paper. One for them to open each day in December, leading up to Christmas. Here’s how it will work:

Collect all 24 of your items, then you need to wrap them and number them 1 to 24. Maybe try to make sure you don’t have any similar items very close together (like if you bought three rolls of washi tape, don’t wrap them and number them for 3 consecutive days - for instance maybe number them something like 3, 10, and 18, and not 3, 4, and 5). After all your items are wrapped and numbered, you will put them in a padded envelope or box and mail them to your assigned partner. Once you receive your package from your partner, and verify there are 24 little wrapped and numbered items, you will immediately rate your partner with a 5. After you have opened all your little gifts (last one on Dec 24) you can adjust your rating to add a heart or a different point value if they did not follow swap instructions.

Items you can choose from this swap are:

  • A sheet of stickers (new, not cut up, not reward or kiddie)(4”x4” or larger, otherwise, include 2 sheets)

  • A new roll of washi tape

  • 5 washi samples on a playing card (or something similar) each measuring 18 inches in length.

  • A little envelope of ephemera

  • 2 quality postcards (not tourist, ad or free cards)

  • A blank notecard and matching envelope

  • 2 sheets of stationery and matching envelope.

  • 2 handmade envelopes (from calendar, maps, fancy paper, etc)

  • 2 mint (unused) forever stamps

  • $1.00 worth of mint (unused) vintage stamps

  • 2 self-adhesive wax seals (unused)

  • A gel pen (any color!)

Do not get more than 4 items in each bulleted category. So no more than 4 sticker sheets, no more than 4 rolls of washi, etc. And no identical items - for instance, you can’t use two of the same notecards for different numbers - all notecards must be different, all washi rolls must be different, all washi samples must be different, etc. All items must be from the categories listed above.

The items should be new, and made or purchased specifically for the swap. This is NOT a chance to clean out your stash of junk. Each day’s item(s) should be worth approximately one dollar (excluding washi which is sometimes less since it comes in a pack). Items are senders choice, But looking at your partners profile would definitely be nice. Please try to avoid sending anything specifically on their dislike list.

Also, make no more than half of the items Christmas themed, and if you do get Christmassy things, try to put them at the beginning of the swap (start at #1) so that your partner still has time to use them before the holiday season is over.

Remember: After all 24 packages are wrapped, put them in a padded envelope or box, along with a Christmas card with your user name and the swap name. Since this is such an extensive swap, I’m giving you 3 weeks to get everything purchased/made, wrapped and mailed. And leaving plenty of time for the postal system to deliver it before December 1st.

Because this is such a huge commitment, I will only be accepting well-rated, experienced swappers for this swap (with at least 10 type 3 swaps, and no unexplained 1’s or 3’s), who are active on the site, and I reserve the right to ban anyone who I don’t feel is 100% sure will complete it. I will be checking every profile.

If you are interested in smaller bite-sized swaps (instead of all in one fell swoop), I’m also offering a separate 4 part swap, along these lines where you will send 6 items to 4 different people, so keep an eye out for that in the next day or so, if you’d rather go that route.

Hey just so you know, 3.90 is a very low rating requirement, particularly for a swap this intensive. That would mean someone had a one for every 2.6 five ratings, or about a five for every three rating. I would highly recommend restricting this to people with a perfect 5 rating, or very close to it.

Hmmm...I appear to have mistyped 4.9. And never fear, since this is such a serious swap, I will be careful vetting each swapper, and also checking their number of type 3 swaps. If they have a non-perfect rating, it will have to be for a REALLY good reason to be allowed to participate. The 4.9 rating limit is mostly to weed out all the non-serious swappers. The real selection will be done manually, promise.

In any case, it should be fixed now. Thanks for catching that error!
