Over this past weekend (Oct 24-25), I tried out the Dewey's readathon. It reminded me of a podcast episode from Felicia Day's podcast - she talked about how much time she wastes on social media. That when she is waiting in line or has a few minutes to kill, she's likely to check out social media and waste time there. So she purposely moved around the apps on her phone, and put an e-book app in the place of her favorite social media, and downloaded a few eBooks she'd been wanting to 'find the time' to read. Over the course of a month, she found that she'd actually read 4 books, about 1200 pages! I thought that was rather impressive! Earlier this year, I did the same, and found that it worked out well for me, as well.

In the readathon swap, one of my partners commented that they decided to replace some computer time with reading time for the readathon, and thought that maybe it would be good to schedule some more reading time each week. I think that's a great idea!

So, here's the swap. You'll have up to 3 partners, and send them each an email (Use BCC please!) In the EMAIL, tell your partner(s) any techniques you've tried to add a little more reading time to your day or week.

Maybe you limit social media or computer time and spend time with a book. Maybe you read while waiting in line. Maybe you read while you brush your teeth. Or listen to audiobooks in the car or while cooking. Have any of these techniques helped you to read more? Have you replaced any regular daily activities with reading time? Are there any techniques you've heard of but not yet tried?

Or, do you think you have the right amount of reading time in your day or week? Recently the person who hosts the Unread Shelf Project posted to her website that she's decided not to try to add in more reading time to her day, or to add in audiobooks to make more progress on her yearly challenge. That kind of surprised me (maybe because she'd recently sent out a post about how Audible and Apple earbuds add to her reading enjoyment ...) But I'm not here to judge. If you feel like you have the right amount of reading time in your day or week, that's great! If you'd like to share your thoughts on that, you can write about that too. :)

Also, do you set reading goals for yourself during the year? I know lots of us have different goals for reading. Maybe it's a challenge or a number of pages or books. Maybe it's to get caught up in a series. Do you set a goal for the year? Do you usually meet the goal? How do you feel if you can't meet the goal?
