FOR TRUE MUSIC AFICIONADOS

I'm in deep need to hear some bands I haven't heard before. A true music obsessive who seems to be falling into the same genres, I would love to get an amazing hip-hop or indie-folksy-alt-pop mix CD. So let's do it!

Everyone will have 1 partner and will send a CD, 18 songs, of music you think is different based on your partners favorite music. Everyone must have 4.8 rating but newbies are welcome, as long as some swaps have been completed.

Each participant must leave a comment with favorite genre and Top 10 favorite artists! If you do not leave a comment by sign up date you will be contacted and/or deleted.

All genres are available so if you don't like a specific sort of music this is not the swap for you.

DropDeeDee - A private music swap would be really cool. What sort of music are you interested in hearing in exchange for your Chicago blues?

jeanland 02/16/2009 #

I have an enormous music collection and am always looking to expand it!

It's hard for me to pick just 1 genre... so I'll give my 3 faves at the moment! :)

I like any kind of music - although I especially like quirky alt-folk indie-pop/rock or experimental stuff. However I will give anything a go, from classical to blues to metal to jazz to electronica to grind to traditional folk tunes. Literally anything!! Top ten bands at the moment:

Rilo Kiley / Cat Power / David Thomas Broughton / Sigur Ros / Explosions In The Sky / Creedence Clearwater Revival / Joanna Newsom / CocoRosie / Godspeed You Black Emperor / Camera Obscura

...more of an idea on my profile and Last.fm too.

mutiny 02/20/2009 #

Woo! Everyone in this swap likes such amazing music!

At the moment I'm listening to a lot of twee-indie-alternative-pop-folk music, and some classic post-punk and 80's infused stuff. Currently spinning:

a) Morrissey, b) Patrick Wolf, c) Devo, d) M83, e) Wir Sind Helden, 1) The Acorn, 2) Future of the Left, 3) Islands, 4)The Gutter Twins, 5) Metric (the groups with numbers next to them, I only have single tracks of, so more of their music would be adored!).

Dluxe 02/21/2009 #

I like a lot of different artists, maybe fav genre is indie-rock. (but I love alt-country/alt-folk/punk) so anything newish or really old from those genres would be cool.

top 10 (in no particular order) 1) Jack White 2)Bjork 3) Courtney Love 4)Cat Power 5)Iggy Pop 6)Otis Redding 7)Diana Ross 8)Kylie 9)Elliott Smith 10) yeah yeah yeahs

Guavatree 02/21/2009 #

Oh, just to clarify, if that's okay.

Are we sending our partner music we think they wouldn't generally listen to?

Also, we don't send (much or any) songs from artists in their top ten list, yes?

Thanks for any answers!

krstawrdtravels 02/22/2009 #

The swap is open to all genres so you can send any song you wish but not songs from artists they already listen to.
