What does this mean?..(Please Bcc all partners to keep email addresses private) I am a bit computer stupid.

OnMyWeigh 03/29/2009 #

That means that only the person you're sending the email to will see their email address.

If you copy and paste the addresses in the "to" line, then all 10 people seen all 10 email addresses...the BCC function keeps the addresses private.

mutantpenguin 03/30/2009 #

Or you could just send the email to each individual separately... right?

CarlyJo 03/30/2009 #

Hey there, I do not think this is the safest swap to be in right now. There have been issues with hacked accounts, it is in the forums. This swap would be a hackers dream, not everyone uses the bcc.

goddessamy 03/31/2009 #

& thats why misnatalie said to use BCC.

really 03/31/2009 #

if it says hide bcc does that mean i'm doing the right thing? the options are "hide bcc" or "show bcc". i think the default setting is hide.

candigirl 03/31/2009 #

to: "really"--

I believe that when it says "show BCC" it enables YOU to see the line and fill it in with addresses..when you put it on "hide", you can't put any addresses in it. You will need to "show" it when you are typing, so you can actually use the function.

Hope that helps you.... --Sandi--

i'm catching up with a friend on friday who i'll ask to show me how to use the bcc option. if he doesn't know how i'll have to opt out. it will be really late to do that, i know, but i don't want to piss anyone off by sending the swap out only to find i got it wrong. sorry about that but i'm just not computer savvy at all.

rebeccalucy 04/ 2/2009 #

really - dont worry if you cant work it out, just send each person an email individually, it will take slightly longer but will work just as well :)

jayven13 04/ 2/2009 #

If you enter all of the addresses into BCC it hides the other email addresses from the recipient. If you put the addresses into the normal send field, the list of addys will still show up, so just use bcc and privacy is ensured. Hope that helps.

I really want partners assigned so I can send now! I've already filled out everything, and now I'm ready to start seeing peoples surveys.

mutantpenguin 04/ 3/2009 #

Foo... I thought I had done my answers already so I could email them right away and sadly found out I had but the answers are on my HOME computer, not work so y'all will have to wait for mine until later today. :)

fourohfour 04/ 3/2009 #

so for some reason its saying I can't send because of a connection error.

And if you're BCCing the addresses, it says you still have to put something in the To: box. Should I just put in my own address and BCC the rest?

fourohfour 04/ 3/2009 #

Also, I just edited my email address, it was an old account and I didn't know the password anymore, so if you've already sent, please resend it to me.

AwtemNymf 04/ 3/2009 #

FOF- thats what I do. I put my address in the TO: line and BCC the rest. That way I have proof that I sent out the email swap :O)

fourohfour 04/ 3/2009 #

oh awesome. I did it right then! For some reason yahoo wasn't working with firefox so I had to use IE.

Ryan 04/ 3/2009 #

When I "Bcc", I just make up an email address for the "To:" section ... usually "[email protected]", and put my own email address in the Bcc sectionwith my partners, so I can "test" it and see it as THEY will ... works like a champ.
