Description:

For this swap, you will create a mandala for your partner using stickers. The result can be simple or intricate-- the point is to enjoy the fun, meditative process of creating something while playing with balance and symmetry. So gather up your stickers, a sturdy background (cardstock or thicker, please), and have fun playing!

Requirements:

• Create and send one sticker mandala using a sturdy background.

• The size of the mandala should be between 4" X 4" and 6" X 6."

• Be sure to protect your mandala well when sending it to your partner so that it doesn't get bent/folded or otherwise damaged.

• While the image is entirely your own artistic creation, please do check your partner's profile for any strong dislikes or phobias which might cause distress. For instance, I know for certain of one with a phobia of insects, and another one of butterflies.

• Include a note with your name and the name of the swap, and be sure to rate your partner when you receive their mandala.

Tips:

For the background, there are a couple of options that work well:

  1. You can use a pencil to draw a radial grid directly onto the background and later erase the parts that are still visible. This works best with opaque stickers, so you can't see the pencil lines through the stickers.

  2. If your background is light enough (white is the easiest) you can print off a template, then place your background over it, using a window, light box/table, or other light source behind it to have a grid to follow without having to draw/erase on your background.
Here's one, or just do an image search for "radial grid."

  3. Rather than printing off a template, I like to use the screen of my computer (or you could use a tablet) at maximum brightness as a sort of light table to directly project the grid image through the background. This method works best if you're in a room with low lighting.

For both methods 2 and 3, washi tape works well to hold the background in place while making the mandala.

also--

• Gathering up groups of 4 or 8 of the same stickers makes for an easy way to start to plan your mandala.

• Tweezers can be helpful for sticker placement so you can get the stickers where you want them without having to adjust.

• Your mandala should be symmetrical, but doesn't need to be a circle. For example, here's a link to a super simple one I made that's more of a diamond shape.

• As shown in the swap image, while your mandala should be symmetrical, the stickers don't need to be exactly the same on all sides to keep a nice balance.

All participants must have a minimum 4.98 rating. You will have over three weeks to create your mandala after partners are assigned. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns.

In the unlikely event that it becomes necessary, I will "angel" this swap, to be sure everyone gets something special in return for their efforts.

Swap image is my own-- a photo of my "Love and Light" sticker mandala.

🌈❤️⭐Happy stickering!
