Description:

Who doesn't love that adorable felt food?? There are tons of patterns (including lots of freebies) on the internet.. This swap will be for felt mini-cakes or a slice of cake. You will send 1 minicake or 1 slice of cake to your partner. These must be 3 dimensional (not flat) felt cakes (or slices).. your choice of "flavors".. add whatever embellishments that you like...the piece must PRIMARILY be made of felt (either wool or synthetic will do). It must be primarily sewn together (by hand or machine) but you may use glue for some of the embellishments.. just remember that you want your work to last.

The biggest rule is to always send something you would want to receive. Do your best work, with the best quality materials you have.. Make your partner's experience with this swap a positive one. Send whatever extras you like. I try to be a generous swapper - what goes around comes around right? You can (if you want but it's not required) to mail it in a cute packaging - like a plastic container for a real cake.

Newbies Welcome.. you will have 1 partner.. no no-sends.. any recent low ratings must have a really good explanation.. otherwise you will be deleted from the swap..

Here's 2 free patterns online for the cakes I have in mind:

would a felt cupcake be alright:)

PinkLotus 05/12/2009 #

I suppose so.. a good sized cupcake.. it wouldn't be fair to make a tiny cupcake and get a cake twice it's size in return..

awwwesome!! I do hope everyone will be sure to upload pics of what they make.. I love looking at :-)

I'm gonna watch this for a few days and see. I would love to join this but haven't tried this before on the felt cake and so forth. If we use something other than what you posted for the links should we put the pattern in with it? I'd like to know how to make something other then the 2 listed in your links. I can't seem to find the free patterns when I look on google.

I guess if you like you could include the pattern you printed - as long as it doesn't violate any copyright laws. You don't HAVE to use either of the patterns I posted, but I would like that whatever you make is on the same size scale.. in other words if the pattern I posted was for a cake that is 3 inches tall - don't make a mini one that is like 1 inch tall and call it an even swap. I'm pretty flexible as long as we are all being considerate of each other.

But even if you don't use the patterns I listed - it still needs to be a "cake"

I've never made felt cake before, so this is going to be fun. Sorry if I sound dumb, but aprox. how big should it be? Inches high/wide?

PinkLotus 05/27/2009 #

not dumb at all.. based on the tutorials I have shown - around 2 or 3 inches high and wide.. mine usually end up about that.. but you can make it bigger than that if you want.. my main concern is that people don't make mini versions that are 1" tall and get something way bigger in return..

Ellama1 05/27/2009 #

I'm watching. If I join, my partner is free to make me smaller cupcake(s) as my daughter is tiny and so is her play kitchen...she's 1. :O)
