Bible passages to read and reflect on this week:

1 Samuel Chapter 16 (The Key Passage is 1 Samuel 16:7)

Young man after young man paraded in front of Samuel. Their father, Jesse, probably watched Samuel expectantly. Don't you imagine he looked for a sparkle in Samuel's eye or a nod of his head to indicate the son who would be chosen to serve as king? And yet Samuel said again and again, "This is not the one the Lord has chosen." Jesse couldn't imagine that the chosen one could be the youngest, David, who was tending the sheep. When young David stood before Samuel, the Lord pronounced him the chosen one. David was anointed with oil, and the spirit of the Lord came upon him. How do you see those around you? Or, even yourself? Do you judge by the outward appearance or by the heart? God sees the heart.

What are some common methods that we humans use for judging others? (For example: Social class, Education, Race...)

According to 1 Samuel 16:7, how does the Lord judge a person?
