Description:

I just had an idea for a Christmas swap that more people could participate in, that requires a bit of thought and preparation, but shouldn't be too expensive to ship. If there isn't much interest, I can delete it.

So, for this swap, you will pull together 25 Christmas-y/holiday recipes for your partner (please do not request specific recipes, but if you have dietary restrictions you can post those). They can be for any type of thing, but should be something you would usually only prepare for the holidays. So, eggnog, rum punch, special party mix, etc.

Once you have found the recipes you want to use, you will either handwrite or print them out onto some sort of nice medium. Holiday themed recipe cards would be fine, as would handmade recipe cards, or even a cute "altered book" of the recipes. The only requirement is that you do not just write or print them out onto regular paper. The either need to be decorated cards or in a little book or journal, etc. Basically, send what you would like to receive.

You can go above and beyond by adding additional embellishments, decorations, etc, but that is not required. To get a 5, you need to send at least 25 holiday themed recipes on either store bought or handmade recipe cards, or in a little recipe "book".

Since this should not be very heavy, I am making it international. This is listed as a craft and package swap even though there are not any actual crafts required, because it is a bit time intensive. You do need to pull together the recipes and either print or copy them onto your desired medium. However, it should not be a very long drawn out thing, so hopefully it won't become too stressful for everyone. I'm making this one due by early November in case anyone wants to start using the recipes for the Thanksgiving holiday. And also to avoid any stress during the official holiday season.

Since this does require a bit of a commitment, you must have a rating of at least 4.8 with at least 5 snail mail type swaps. Sorry newbies, but maybe you'll be able to get enough swaps under your belt by then. No no-sends in past 6 months, or 3s in the past 3 months. If you have extenuating circumstances, PM me.

Happy holidays and let's have fun!

Additional possibility: If you want to include a traditional holiday recipe from your family, or your region of the world, (or both) that would be even better!

I have shellfish allergies and my family does not drink alcohol. Please refrain from sending any recipes containing shellfish and/or alcohol.

Love2Teach, I am sure that any potential partner can avoid sending shellfish recipes since those are not very common for Christmas. However, a large number of Christmas-specific recipes have alcohol. Since this swap is not mandatory that it be profile specific, it is possible (and in fact, likely) you may receive recipes that have alcohol in them (I know about 1/3 of mine are for punch or other beverages that have alcohol in them; as the swap currently stands, that means you have about a 1 in 5 chance of receiving recipes with alcohol). I hope you can still participate in the swap, and just send those recipes on to someone who can use them, but if you do not feel comfortable participating, I understand.

Yippie! I have my 25 recipes all ready to go. I'm so looking forward to seeing what my partner sends. :-)

I'm making a special "around the world" altered cookbook for my sister in-law for Christmas and I really appreciate all the recipes, thanks!

I'm also collecting recipes for Zanara's "altered cookbook" and can't wait to see what we get. I may just have to try them all before I pass them on to her!

Can we include some dinner recipes? There are some dishes that my family only makes during Christmas time.

You can include any type of recipes that you like.

Hello. I wanted to let you all know that I will be assigning partners probably tomorrow. There are one or two people who have plenty of good ratings, but mostly from email swaps that I am just doing a quick check with to make sure they have previous online experience with this type of thing. I plan to assign partners tomorrow after I hear back (or not) from them.

Thanks for your patience. Happy swapping!
