Hi Everyone, I am new to Swap-bot but am loving it and am hoping to do some swapping soon. I just created this Postage Stamp swap but I don't know if it has enough information, but hope so. I also forgot to upload a photo but I suppose we all know what a postage stamp looks like, lolol... Hope to have some people join and also if anyone is interested in a private swap, that would be great too.

: )

What do you mean it has to be off paper? If it's used, wouldn't it be on paper? I don't understand what you mean. :(

SueJohnson 09/15/2009 #

OFF paper means that the used postage stamps have been removed off of the envelopes, so they are no longer on the "paper" or envelope/postcard etc.

thank you for asking. I also have some postage stamps from the USA that I have ON paper still if you are interested in a private swap, just let me know.

Take care!

I would join but most of mine are still on the paper. It would take me a really long time to un-glue them. If you create another swap with them on paper I will join. Thanks!

How do you take them off the paper? I know some easily come off, especially older ones, but what about newer ones?

Thanks!

Removing the used postage stamps from the paper (envelope, postcard etc) is pretty easy. I wasn't sure the first time I tried it, but was overjoyed when they just started falling off. I took a flat pan like a pan you use to bake a long cake. Put luke warm water in it and put in your stamps, a few at a time. The real old stamps will fall off almost immediately. The newer ones (I just tried it) takes a few minutes, but they do come off. When the newer stamps separate, the gummy sticky stuff stays on the paper. Then take the stamps and dry them on a towel. This is the short version of how to. Google these words and you will find detailed instructions: how remove postage stamps

Hi Jfreeman, I read your comment and I will create a new swap for used postage stamps ON paper.

Oh, I just saw the sent date on this. I can't make it to the post office tomorrow. Have to drop.. you really should give more then just one day=(

SueJohnson 09/19/2009 #

Hi, you are correct, more than one day to send would be a good idea, lolol... I just changed the closing date to the 25th, and send by the 30th. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. : )

Thanks!

I'd love to get postage stamps from any country with birds, bugs, or flowers on them. If my partner specifies what kind of stamps they like I will try to comply with their wishes.

SueJohnson 09/21/2009 #

Hey Carroll, that's a great idea to have a list of what you like. I will be sure to read all comments before I send. I am not to particular, but I like the bigger stamps, USA or World Wide is okay, I even like the flashy CTO stamps. Happy swapping!

My mum just showed me that Un-du works to remove stamps, and the stamp is still sticky after. She says it's kind of expensive (it's about $8 for the original 4 oz bottle). Un-du.com in case anyone's interested!

You really don't need any expensive product, you just stick 'em in water. Honestly, after a few minutes, they fall right off. Remove the paper after the stamp is free, and let it continue to soak all the glue off. Rinse the stamps with clear water before letting they drm, that way there is no glue left on the stamp. You can do a whole bunch at a time if you want, just be sure whatever paper it's on won't leak color.

SueJohnson 09/25/2009 #

I find that the older stamps come off the paper almost immediately when put in water. The newer ones that people put on their envelopes these days takes a bit longer, but they still come off okay. I don't do much soaking though as I am lazy and prefer them already OFF paper.

Thanks to all for your suggestions!
