Description:

I don't think this is already being done, but if so, I apologize for the duplicate. Thanks to craftynana for the idea.

This swap is to exchange 12 ATCs or cards with one partner. You can do postcards or greeting cards instead of ATCs if you want to put more effort into it, but only ATCs are required. The ATCs/cards should be Christmas themed. They can be vintage, glittery, modern, snowy, song-inspired, or anything else Christmasy. They do not have to reflect the items from the song "12 Days of Christmas" although if you want to do that you can.

These are for high quality ATCs or cards. They need to be on a solid substrate, and obviously have some effort put into them. Stickers are allowed, but cannot be the main focus of the ATCs/cards. Do not just slap a sticker on a piece of paper or doodle a little bit and call it done.

If sending ATCs, they need to be in some sort of protector for mailing. Individual ATC pouches are fine, as are the pages designed for holding baseball cards. You can also get creative and design your own holder, as long as the cards are protected for mailing.

If sending greeting cards, they need to include envelopes so your partner can then use them. If sending post cards, please be sure they meet the requirements of a standard post card.

The ATCs/cards do not need to be profile specific. This is sender's choice, as long as they are Christmas themed. Please avoid making them overly religious so that as many people as want to can join. Simple one word phrases such as " joy", "peace", "rejoice", etc. would be allowable for ATCs or cards. But if making greeting cards please do not make them scriptural or evangelical in message due to possible conflicts in your recipient's beliefs. That being said, Christmas is by its very nature a Christian holiday, so if you are absolutely offended by the idea of receiving items with Angels, Stars of Bethlehem, etc. as part of their imagery, this may not be the best swap for you.

For those who are watching the swap, is there a specific reason it is not appealing to you? I am happy to make any changes that you guys think are necessary. Or is it just because it's kind of a long time until then?

This swap sounds amazing! I am only watching it because I want to make sure I can devote enough time to make all 12 of these cards. I am sure I will be able to, but you know how life goes. You commit to something and then it throws you curveballs. As soon as I complete more swaps and get them out of the way, chances are, I will join. It sounds great!

In response to a question I received, you can do a combination of ATCs, greeting cards and postcards, as long as there are a total of 12 items and they are all Christmas themed.

I am watching because I would really like to make (& recieve) ATC's only.... perhaps this is a good time to think outside of my ATC box! I'm probably going to join, so I can try some new things--- just have to get used to the idea!

I am watching because I am not sure I like the restrictions about the words. I'm not religious but I like to be able to use my rubbers stamps that have nice sayings.

LINBUR0100 10/23/2009 #

Zanara, I am PMing you.

Zanara 10/23/2009 #

I have a stamps with that say, for example, " may the true spirit of christmas fill your heart with peace, your home with love.", "though far and wide on earth we roam, at christmastime our hearts come home." Would they be fine?

LINBUR0100 10/23/2009 #

Zanara, I think those are perfectly good examples of generic Christmas greetings. They are not overly evangelical in nature, but just reflect on the the true meaning of Christmas. As I said in the guidelines, Christmas is by its very nature a Christian holiday, so if there is anyone who would be offended by these generic Christmas greetings then this is probably not the swap for them. If anyone else has any thoughts on this, please feel free to comment or PM me. I want this to be a swap that a wide range of people can participate in.

Thanks!

I just PM you. Great idea.

Garrent 10/29/2009 #

For whoever gets me as a partner, I wouldn't be offended by Christ-centered cards myself. But I understand the concern and will send "generic" cards to my partner, unless given the go-ahead personally.

I'm assigning partners now. I hope you all enjoy this swap. :-)
