Description:

For this swap we will have two partners and we will make each partner a 12 x 12 inch quilt block with the pattern for this month. Make sure you leave a quarter inch seam all the way around, so the square actually ends up being 12.5 x 12.5 inches.

This months pattern is the Roman Square Pattern.

Here is the link.

This pattern has instructions on how to increase the size of the square on page 3. Please be sure to check this out before you begin cuttinng. Be sure to add another 1/4 inch ON TOP of what they say to add. They tell you how to make a 12x12 unfinished block, but we are making 12.5x12.5.

November color is Dark Yellow. No more then 2 of the strips are to allowed to be solid colors. If you don't want to do solids, that's okay, but if you do use them, no more then 2 of the strips in the entire block. Fabric needs to be mostly dark yellow, but can have other colors in it as well.

QBOTM GUIDELINES

*If you join the QBOTM, you don't have to stay in it for each round. It's not a requirement that you join each month.

*Make sure the fabrics are all 100% cotton fabrics and are 12.5 by 12.5 inches when finished.

*If you flake on any of these swaps you will be banned from future QBOTM swaps and I will report you to the group founder. We don't want swappers like that in this group.

Any questions, be sure to pm me and I'll be happy to answer them

Correction: The linked instructions include cutting instructions (on page 3) to make a 12 x 12 finished block. If you use their cutting guidelines, you will have a 12 1/2" x 12 1/2" unfinished block - which is what's required for this swap.

oh, thanks @TC I have some issues with reading finished/unfinished. Sorry about that! Thanks again!

swappingcanuck 10/13/2009 #

so if you use all scraps they need to be cut at 2.5" by 6.5"

swappingcanuck 10/13/2009 #

and that assumes 1/4" seams

Yep, 2.5" x 6.5" strips. I made my blocks today and used that size, and the block came out exactly 12.5" x 12.5".

i've tried it 3 different times and it's not coming out right...ugh@!

I found out I needed to make scant 1/4" seams to have them come out square while piecing the strips.
