Newbie here-- please explain "send post cards naked, written on, and not in envelope". Does this mean to send an addressed post card with no message?

Thanks, Maureen

I believe it means to send the postcard as you usually would - addressed & written on. Do not send it as an unused postcard in an envelope.

The naked bit confuses me too - I always thought naked meant blank.

Someone more experienced should probably confirm this thou.

Yes Bups you are correct. Send postcard with a message written on it to your partner and mail as a postcard. I'll edit the naked part in description. I've never really understood the naked part either, I suppose it's a swap-bot thing? :-) GT

Naked mail is when you send an item in the mail without an envelope or other kind of wrapping. Not covered = naked. A lot of mailartists will challenge themselves and eachother to come up with strange things to send, I think mostly to see what will arrive. I recall reading about a mailart project where two people sent, among other things, a single red rose with an address tag tied to the stem. It arrived only slightly whithered. A postcard sent the way it's intended (with message, address and stamp directly on it, no envelope) is the most common kind of naked mail. However, it seems to me that when the phrase "send naked" is used in the description for postcard swaps here it almost always confuses people, maybe because it's a term that's most commonly used by the mailart crowd and not so well-known to postcard enthusiasts?
