Okay, quilters, let's finish something! LOL! Make a colorful mini quilt for your partner. Example sizes would be from 6" x 6" to 15" x 15". And it doesn't have to be square, but you get the size idea. A quilt should be a top, batting, and backing. It is usually bound and finished with a small label or signed by the quilter. You can do a whole cloth design, applique, traditional piecing, improvisational piecing, etc. They can be hand pieced, machine pieced, hand quilted, machine quilted or a combination.

Sender's choice, so here's your chance to try out a new technique, use up your scraps or buy a couple fat quarters you've been drooling over. You can start making your little quilt now and have it ready to go.

I will check for potential flakers and please don't join if you don't intend to make a quilt. And as with all swaps, please thank your swap partner by rating. You guys know what it takes to finish a quilt, so please be courteous and thank/rate.

Google "Miniature Quilts" and check out the images for inspiration.

Yikes am I crazy?!! I'm still doing Christmas sewing! But.....I had another idea for a cute Christmas quilt I wanted to try...so I'll take the plunge!! :-)

Could you possibly extend the amount of time? That's not much time to complete a quilt!

Michele360 12/ 9/2009 #

You can do it kgeslab! It can be tiny! Whip something up and join us!

Michele360 12/ 9/2009 #

Ky, you're not crazy! A little distraction might be nice during this busy season!

Bearynice 12/10/2009 #

I am going to be crazy too and have a go , just love mini quilts

CroLaneyL 12/12/2009 #

Oh I would love to join this, but I'm very new to quilting, but love how the mini's look. I'd be afraid of sending something someone wouldn't like. But I'll keep an eye out for future swaps and hopefully have myself more formiliar with how to make them, lol. Have fun guys!

autumnbreezzz, you ought to join. i know it's intimidating when you first start but everyone starts somewhere. i think as long as you put your heart into what you make and it shows that you tried, your partner will like it. or, if you want to get your feet wet doing a private mini quilt swap, i'd love to swap with you. just pm me.

Yay! Look at all the swappers! This might be a dumb question, but if there are an odd number of swappers how does the automatic partnering thingy (technical term) assign partners. Wouldn't you have to have an even number for it to work out?

jennschales 12/16/2009 #

No, it'll work...I figured it with just 3 (which is an odd number too, just to see HOW it works)...with 3, 1 sends to 2, 2 sends to 3, and 3 sends to 1...Swap bot'll figure it out!

You are brilliant, jennschales! It's been too long since I've done "new math!" Did your parents pull that stuff on you? "That's new math, we don't know how it's done." LOL! Well, thank you for everyone who has signed up. I really treasure the quilts I've received from these swaps. They hang in my studio with pride and inspire me every day! Make something cool and sign the back so we can remember the artiste!
