I love to crochet and am ready to sign up for this, just have a couple questions first. What type of yarn would you like us to use? I don't have any preferences, I actually prefer the acrylics for granny squares, but I know some people like the natural fibers, also should the squares be the basic granny or can they have variations? Thanks.

I am trying not to overcommit, but I LOVE these crocheted/knitted square swaps, so I may just have to sign up! Do we state preferences or dislikes, or allow our partner to determine what to send?

I think that for these afghan square swaps, it is most appropriate to simply use acrylic yarn. It is too complicated to try acquiring cotton for one partner, wool for another, bamboo for a third, or something of that nature. And who has that kind of money?

But that will be AngieB's decision. But I personally vote for Red Heart Soft acrylic yarn--I just bought tons of it in anticipation of afghan square swaps like these. :)

I wish I could figure out how to crochet so I could play!

I think the acrylic would be the best that is what I use.

You can do the basic granny square or any variation you want as long as it is 8".

Sorry I haven't posted till now my great aunt had fallen and slit her thumb open and had a goose egg size lump on her head and between her and my mom that I take care off I haven't been on much the last couple of days.

cooan do you knit? I know some that knit the granny squares.

I have just read the discussion on what types of yarn should be used. Sorry, but I don't own any Red Heart and my squares will be either washable wools or wool/blends. Hope that is OK.

Sorry, I'm a little slow tonight. Can we knit our granny squares if we want?
