Description:

This is a swap for Christians that enjoy reading, memorizing, meditating and praying scripture. What we're doing is starting a collection of decorated scripture cards.

Using 3" X 5" index cards (colored or white cards, ruled or unruled cards is up to the sender what type of card to use). EDIT: You may use regular cardstock cut to the 3" X 5" guidelines.

On one side of the card write the scripture including the reference information (book, chapter and verse) and which Bible version you're using (NIV, KJV, etc.,).

Make it legible, if your handwriting is hard to read that's okay just type it out and glue it on. If you have rubber stamps with scriptures on them then you can use them too.

On the other side of the index card you can leave it blank or you can write the same scripture using a different version. For example: You may write a verse on one side from the NIV and then on the other side of the index card write the same verse using the KJV.

To decorate you may paint, draw or use stickers, rubber stamps, etc., and make a nice border around the verse(s) or you can put the verse on one side and use the other side to make an inspirational or cheerful picture.

You will send 2 cards to 3 different people. If you want to send the same set of cards to all your partners just do them in triplicate. Or if you want to make 6 different cards and randomly choose 2 for each person, that‘s fine too.

You will mail your cards in an envie. Give out hearts as you see fit.

If everyone likes this swap then I'll sponsor more later on. I have a collection of scripture cards I've written on index cards and I keep them in a index card box. These are great to take out and read over when you are feeling down. They are so portable you can take a few to work and read over them during your lunch and breaks. You may want to start your own collection too and this will get you off to a fun start.

Newbies welcome as I'm pretty new myself and we all have to start somewhere. Everyone else must have high numbers to join. If you seem fishy then I reserve the right to ban you as I want everyone in the swap to be committed to getting the scripture cards done and mailed out. Enjoy! May you all have a happy and blessed New Year!

Hey, welcome back gang! Glad we could all meet up again as we are going to have a fun year with this swap and I think we'll all grow spiritually and creatively too and I'm looking forward to it.

Hey, sounds like a great swap! I was in a Christian group that did a similar swap, although it was for a 4x6 decorated card. Im going to watch. I would love to participate. However, in my short time on this board, I have been flaked on by 4 newbies (like the ones whose first swaps had them partnered with me). I am a little nervous about newbie newbies...but in a Christian swap, it should be more trustworthy. :)

Hi, can I just make sure of something please. Is it OK to use ordinary card providing it is the correct size or does it have to be index cards? I'm really not sure what the difference is between an index card and general card stock.

Thanks, Carol

Hi pearly163,

Index cards can be purchased at any office supply store or in that section of most supermarkets and general retail stores like Target, Wal-Mart, etc. I guess they don't have to be actual "index cards", you can use cardstock. However, they do have to be 3" X 5" because some of us are collecting these cards and putting them into a small index card box so they need to fit.

I hope that this continues for a long while so that we can build a nice collection of scriptures to put in a special box and pull from each day.

Hi Everybody,

Just wanted to tell you that I'll assign partners tomorrow probably early in the morning before I run out the door to get my chores and errands done. Then I can come back home and enjoy working on my cards to swap too. :)

Also, just a tip on how you can help your collection to grow faster: Make a duplicate card of each one you swap so you'll have one to mail out and one to tuck into your own collection.
