Description:

This swap is for all you beginner quilt makers who want to get their feet wet.

The block for March is Calico Puzzle.

Calico Puzzle Pattern

You will make one block and have one partner.

It is senders choice for the colors. Make sure you use contrasting colors. Like dark blue and white or light pink and dark red. Please no NOVELTY fabrics. Novelties are Easter prints, kid prints, food prints, animal prints, etc. You can use floral prints and geometric prints. Just nothing that reads children blocks. Use TWO light colors and ONE darker color like in the picture.

Please try your very best to use a scant 1/4 inch seam allowance when constructing your blocks. The finished block should measure 12 1/2 inches when it is complete.

To make it easier for newbies, after you cut out your squares use a disappearing ink marker to draw your seam allowance. Then sew just next to the line, not on top of it. This will make it easier to learn the scant seam allowance. Please pm me with any questions. You can also measure from your needle over 1/4 of an inch and use masking tape as a guide.

Newbies are welcome. Please fill out your profile. Everyone has to start some where. Experienced swapper with a 4.8 or higher may join to. I will be checking profiles. Please no recent bad ratings. You have to be 30 days free of bad ratings.

UPDATE1/28/10---Please make a block you would like to receive. Lets keep any questionable fabric for something else. Please us color combination's that are pleasing to the eye. We want to be able to use these blocks. It is disappointing to get a block that you can't use. It will discourage people from wanting to join.

The instructions say to only use two fabrics, but in the blocks, it looks like three. Do you mind clarifying? Thanks for your help! :)

fabricmom 01/14/2010 #

Not a problem I will edit that for three fabrics. THanks.

I changed the start date to a day later. My hubby is having surgery on the 1st and we won't get home from the hospital until late on the second. Gives me a little more breathing room.

Turquiose - brown combination would be great, but if you don't have that anything will do just fine.

I've been receiving lovely cobalt blue and white blocks in other swaps, so that would be nice, or a scrappy-er block with other colors from my profile would be good, too! Just please, no warm colors like ecru, off white, orange, dull yellow, tan, beige, etc.

I would love 1930's prints with white, but if you don't have that I will be happy with whatever color combo you pick out.
