Description:

With kind permission from my buddie Michele360, I am setting up a spin-off of her Miniature Art Quilts with a two part series of themed mini art quilts. This is the first, and the next one coming in May will be "The Modern Mini Art Quilt".

If you are like me and love the romantic look of Victorian clothing, furnishings and accessories, you'll want to join this swap.

When I think of Victorian things, I think of delicate china tea sets, ribbons, lace scarves on furniture, cameo's, pearl buttons, white gloves, large fancy hats, embroidered hankies, lace collars, feathers, velvet ribbons, doilies and beautiful rose print fabrics. So, why not take some of these items and create our own lovely Victorian-like mini art quilt?!

--one partner to receive --one Victorian Mini Art Quilt (use 6"X6" up to 15"X15" as your size guide and it doesn't have to be square)

You should use at lease 5 of the items mentioned above in your quilt. You will finish the quilt top off with batting, and backing and a label which should show at least your name and city/state or country. Name the quilt if you like!

Newbies welcome with a filled out profile, at least 3 snail mail swaps to their credit, and a 5 rating. Seasoned swappers must have a 4.8 rating and no 1's in the last 6 months.

You might want to aim for a heart by checking out your partners profile for their favorite color as a base for your Victorian Mini Art Quilt.

Here is a bit if Victorian trivia for you....do you know what those small covers (sometimes lacy) that people used to put over the arms of chairs and sofas are called? Antimacassers! My kids thought it was a word I made up....I had to prove to her that it was a real word. :-)

I've had a similar experience with that word and that item....I love them, but with 3 boys in the house....they aren't practical except when added to a mini Victorian Art Quilt and hung on the wall out of reach!

Thank you Ky for sharing that fun story! You've made me even more excited to make and receive my mini quilt!

Apparently because the name of the goop they used to put in their hair was "Macasser". Eww!

perkl8r 04/14/2010 #

Yeah, they had to protect their furniture from the goop! lol As you can see I extended the sign up date on this for a couple days and it looks like we had a few more people add this swap to their watch list. Actually, I won't be able to flick the switch to assign partners until Monday the 19, so I'm gonna go in and make that the last date to sign up. Thank you for your patience in this matter!

Uh-Oh! Where did everyone go!? I have been working on mine....and now I remember clearly why I only work with 100% cotton and not silk and satin! Ha-ha...slipping and sliding everywhere and will nto stay put! It's coming along though so don't cancel the swap Perk even if it is only a couple of us that is fine with me. Hopefully some of the watchers will sign up!

I'm here, not going anywhere...too anxious to see my mini when it arrives and having fun getting one ready to send...I'm hoping more folks sign up, sure would hate for themto miss out, they might be sorry later they didn't join. I can't wait for mine to arrive so I can hang it on my studio wall....or maybe at my Mini Art Quilt Gallery in my cubie at work!

@Ky I got your quilt today, left you a rating. I am so glad you stuck to it with the slippery satins. This little quilt is so gorgeous.
