Description:

We have all lost someone along the way. In this swap, we will create an artwork of some sort that commemorates that person. Use whatever medium you like working with, or perhaps a medium that your loved one was fond of - it's your choice. Perhaps you will write a poem. Perhaps make a collage. Sculpture, painting, song, whatever - as long as it is a fitting tribute to your loved one.

Death can leave us feeling so helpless, unable to do anything of any significance about it ... and art can fill that void, helping you to explore your feelings for the departed one, and to embrace the memories that remain.

Having made this artwork, you will then take a picture of it, or scan it, or in the case of written word art, simply attach a copy, or in the case of a song, a recording ... you get the idea ... and send this to your partner. The original artwork will either be kept by you, or given to another person who felt the loss of your loved one as much as you did. Finally, also write a note (email, card, however you wish) to your swap partner to send along with the "copy" of the artwork, giving a little information about your loved one who is now gone.

Please - use this as an opportunity to honour the memory of a loved one who has passed away. This may be a person in most cases, but in some, it might be a pet - if the loss was as significant and painful as that of a human's, that would be fine. Please do not use this as an opportunity to write an ode to your favorite pen that you lost last week. While your humour might be well-intended, this is a swap for those who have had a genuine loss of life of a loved one. Also please do not use it to pine over an ex-boyfriend or estranged family member. While those losses are genuine & true, we are limiting this particular dedication to loved ones who have died.

In a nutshell:
* one partner
* create an artwork of any sort to honour a loved one who has passed away
* make a copy of that artwork to send to your swap partner
* along with the copy, please send a few words about the person you are honouring
* you may send the copy and the card/letter/etc via email if you wish - if you choose to send via snail mail, you MUST retain a photo of what you sent, so that you can re-send electronically if there is any question of your parcel not arriving

To join:
* there is no significant send-out portion of this swap - it can be sent electronically if desired - and therefore, I am opening this swap to anyone
* in sharing our losses with one another, flaking would be in very poor taste, so I hope that this will not be an issue
* in the event that someone does flake, and you have (a) contacted the person requesting the swap, and either not received an answer or been given an answer which is not carried out; and (b) you have rated a 1 ; then I will angel.

NOTE: I have edited the swap to end one day earlier. I have changed my travel plans, and wanted to be sure to be available to assign partners. If you were watching & planning to join, but I closed it - please message me. If there is interest, I can run another one after a while.

I love this idea! I will be travelling during the time period to complete this swap, so I can not join, but I hope if you ever host another similar swap, you'll let me know!
