A Parcel of Postal Goodness #3
Inside
Send your partner a small parcel of postal goodness, containing at least 3 items that are in some way mail art or postal related. The items can be handmade, vintage, 2nd hand, salvaged/re-purposed or any mixture. You may include one but not more item that is store-bought new The list below gives some examples, but is not all-encompassing: feel free to send any 3 items that are mail art or postal related – include an explanatory note, just in case your thought processes aren't obvious to your partner!

  • An ATC
  • A handmade postcard
  • A zine (art/craft/mail art/correspondence related)
  • A notecard with envelope or letterset (2 writing sheets with envelope)
  • A set of envelopes (minimum 4, of legally mail-able dimensions; not plain white/brown)
  • Mailing labels
  • Envelope seals
  • Faux postage sheet or booklet
  • Address labels
  • Envelope seals
  • A rubber stamp
  • A hand-carved stamp
  • An ink pad
  • Salvaged papers to use as a writing set (minimum 5 half-size/A5 sheets but can be larger)
  • Vintage postcards (stamped & written or unused)
  • A small address book
  • A book or magazine that is in some way mail or postal-related

The following items should only be included in your package if your partner's profile suggests they would appreciate them, or included in addition to your 3 items.

  • Used postage stamps
  • Store-bought postcards
  • Free mailing/customs labels from your Post Office
  • Stickers
  • Friendship books/label bags/decos/slams/etc

Outside
The outside of your envelope/package should be as fun to receive as the inside. This can be as simple as adding your own faux postage/artistamps to the outside, to decorating an entire envelope with your choice of artwork, to packaging in a handmade envelope of some kind, or sending within some kind of 'container' that you would not normally see mailed. Be creative!

Swap requirements

  • 2 partners = 2 Parcels of Postal Goodness sent, and 2 Parcels of Postal Goodness received.
  • Send 3 different items (e.g. a zine, an ATC and a postcard) to each partner. Do NOT send multiples of the same type of item (e.g. 3 ATCs, or 2 zines and some address labels). The idea is to give your partner a little variety!
  • Items may be vintage/second hand but must still be in good/useable condition.
  • You may re-gift items, but make sure that the original artist is credited.
  • You may include no more than one store-bought new item.
  • The swap is sender's choice, but please put in some thought, & try to make your partner smile.
  • The outside of your envelope/package must be in some way decorated and/or creative.

The obvious bit
You already had to have a rating of 4.9+ with no recent no-sends, 1s or 3s to join this group anyway, so the same stands for this swap. But I will still double-check before assigning partners, so if you have what you feel is an unfair comment or rating, just PM me & we can try to work it out. :-)

These swaps are SO fun... both putting together and receiving!

Can't beat a bit of mail art serendipity :)

@TangleCrafts under requirements it reads: "Send 3 different items (e.g. a zine, an ATC and a postcard) to each partner. Do NOT send multiples of the same type of item (e.g. 3 ATCs, or 2 zines and some address labels). The idea is to give your partner a little variety!"*
I'm assuming it would indeed be ok to send multiples of a single item (ex: 3 of the same handmade notecard) as long as there were enough individually unique items to total at least 3 (ex: the 3 ncs + 1 zine + an inkpad), correct?

TangleCrafts 10/ 5/2010 #

Oh yes, that's fine @TeaNi . I just meant don't send a zine, a zine (mail art) and a zine (cool stuff). But multiples as an example of one of the items is fine, just so long as that is as well as rather than instead of the other items. :)

Is it October 10 yet? I can't wait to put this swap together!

TangleCrafts 10/10/2010 #

Nearly... :)

not into Friendship books/label bags/decos/slams/etc myself as of yet --didnt think to mention it on my profile.

How fun. I was banned due to a late send that was currently on my dashboard. Except I sent it last week. Its a holiday this weekend, I was spending time with my family and hadn't logged in to mark it as sent yet. Funny that in "the obvious bit" at the end, not having current lates isn't mentioned, when I take the time to send awesome packages, and have NEVER had a 1 or 3 rating.

What a bummer, really puts a sour taste in my mouth for participating in future swaps in this group, despite the fact that the group is filled with such awesome people. I guess the benefit of the doubt doesn't exist even when you have a 5.0 rating.

Wow, I'm really sorry you felt the need to comment here. As there were so many people signed up for this swap, I was trying to be extra careful, as I explained to you. I also apologised (twice) for the disappointment in dropping you from the swap, as well as offering a private swap. I don't think it's possible for me to say anything that will make it up to you, and I really am sorry about that, too.

TangleCrafts 10/11/2010 #

I understand that you're upset about this, but I did just want to say that you are still welcome in future ZMACS swaps.

kataish 10/12/2010 #

I'll admit I was upset when I commented here and it was before your PM to me and kind offer to setup a private swap if I wanted, so thank you for that, and I'm sorry to have said anything here, but I was just a upset over something I'd really been looking forward to.

TangleCrafts 10/13/2010 #

Apology wholeheartedly accepted. I was upset to have upset you so much as that was never my intention. I really hope you continue to enjoy the group. :)
