Description:

Some of you have probably heard of the Flat Stanley project where school children send little paper characters around the world. Recipients take pictures of the characters in various locations and then send the character and picture back to the child. So I thought this might be fun to do with adults (since we can't participate in the kids version).

All you have to do is make a paper doll. Doesn't have to be a work of art. Can be made from a regular sheet of paper, but you can make larger if you so desire. Just make sure that it's not so small that it would be hard to get a good picture of. Then you'll send it to your partner.

Partners, you'll take a picture (or multiple pictures) of the Flat Stanley somewhere in the area you live. Be creative - go to a zoo, find a statue, take it to a concert, etc. Once you get the picture developed or printed off your computer, send it and the Flat Stanley back to the person who sent it to you.

If this works out and there is interest, we'll make this a monthly event so that we can keep our Stanleys going. This will be an international swap so that Stanley can visit exotic locations.

If you want more info about the actual project, check out the website at http://flatstanley.enoreo.on.ca/. There is a template on the website if you need it.

Okay, now for the serious stuff. I will remove people who have multiple no sends. In order for this swap to work, you need to be responsible since it involves the step of sending Stanley back. Your only cost is going to be for postage to your partner and back to the person who sends you a Stanley. Make sure you put adequate postage on the envelope so Stanley doesn't end up in the dead letter files somewhere.

Let's have fun!

OR WHAT WOULD BE GOOD TOO IS IF YOU MAKE THE FLAT STANLEY SEND IT TO THE PERSON YOU GET, THEY IN TURN TAKE PICTURES AND SEND THOSE TO THE PERSON THEY GET. THAT PERSON KEEPS THE PICS BUT TAKES MORE AND SENDS THEM TO THE PERSON THEY GET. SO THAT THE SAME FLAT STANLEY TRAVELS ALL OVER THE WORLD

I have had the priviledge of participating in two of my grandchildren's Flat Stanley projeccts. It is a blast. Jill's idea of a monthly rotation sounds great. I would prefer to receive pictures of my own paper doll as I am an avid scrapbooker and would want to make a personal record of his travels.

Oh man I can't wait! What a cool idea Jill! I did this with my daughter a couple of years ago for school. FUN!!!

Someone had emailed me regarding the size of the Flat Stanley. The size is up to you. I've seen pictures of human sized ones, but most seem to be no bigger than the size of a regular piece of paper. I would just recommend that it be big enough to show up in a picture.

Seashell, I love your Flat Shelly!!! I wish I would of thought to take a pic to share b4 mailing out! Is there a flickr site that we will be using to share Flat Stan's/Shelly's adventures on?

I just found out that the person I sent my doll to won't be able to take the pictures and was wondering if there is anyone why would like to take my doll on for a few pictures if I can get it sent back to me?

Thanks
