Description:

Deadline extended one week to avoid mailing at the height of the Christmas mail crunch!

OK I am going to be brave and host my first swap. If I make any mistakes in this listing PLEASE feel free to tell me about it! :)

With winter fast approaching I thought it would be fun to do a winter/cold climate inchie swap. I love snowmen and all cold climate animals. So lets have fun and do a set of "snowy" inchies.

You will have 1 partner

You will make a set of 10 inchies (feel free to make more if you get on a roll)

You must make at least 2 inchies of a snowman, 2 inchies of a penguin, and 2 inchies of a polar bear.

The other 4 inchies can be of these things too, or you can branch out to other things. How about the Northern Lights? Walruses are cute! Puffins are one of my favorite birds. There's always orcas and humpbacks whales. Maybe a beautiful intricate 6-sided snow crystal would be nice?

These inchies can be any medium -- hand-drawn, collage, painted, stamped, mixed media, etc. Please put some time and effort into these little pieces of artwork. No sticker slapping (although stickers are allowed if thoughtfully used as part of the design).

Rating of 4.8 or higher. No 1s or 3s within the last 6 months, and then only with an explanation.

You have a moderately a long sign-up period, and then over a month to complete this swap. I hope lots of people join up and that everyone has fun!!

Looks GREAT! - Im too chicken to do my own swap, so high*five for you!!

dobie256 11/ 1/2010 #

LOL @ ryanne! I'll let you know how it goes. I had a friend who had one of her first swaps get to 100+ participants. Now that's scary! I hope this has a nice trun-out, but I don't think we will hit 100! :)

just an idea, but what about drawing little snow globes. I was thinking like using clear glitter glue pens for the snow and each globe can have a little figure inside.

dobie256 11/11/2010 #

@nasreen if you can fit snow globes -- plus the critter/snowman requirements -- onto inchies then go for it! Just make sure the items in the snow globe are big enough to see nicely.

This will be my first inchie project. I hope all goes well and I'm really looking forward to it. Thanks

by looking at dobie's inchies on Flickr i think I might be in way over my head with atcs and inches. I can only do simple designs with simple materials. I dont have fancy papers or a colored printer...I'm not sure if I can meet the quality desired

.....diving in feet first......SPLASH

dobie256 11/14/2010 #

@Cole - I wasn't ignoring you. Just out of town and away from my computer for a couple of days. Everyone has to start somewhere and this swap is newbie friendly. Simple designs and simple materials can be transformed into wonderful items -- with care and thought and effort. Dive in and have fun!

I think that snow globes would be fantastic! :)
