Description:

You never make anything for yourself. Everyone wants you to crochet them this and sew them that and it feels good to be wanted but there’s never enough time to make things for yourself. This swap is about making that time.

Maybe you missed out on an awesome swap series of ATCs. Maybe you have found some amazing yarn and having been dying for a new pair of socks. Maybe you wish you had a fabulous wall hanging that makes you smile every time you pass it. Maybe a swap partner asked you to make something incredible that you wished you had made for yourself. The possibilities are endless.

Requirements:

You must make something for yourself. It should take about 6-10 hours and it must be for you.

When you have completed your thing (ATCs, dotee, journal, painting, socks, wall hanging etc.) you will print out a picture of it and write a brief letter explaining why you chose the thing you did. You can make this letter as simple or as complicated as you’d like.

(If you need assuage your deep seated guilt for making something for yourself, you can make a small journal detailing what you chose, what materials you used, display pictures of the process from materials to finished project, list what other things you’d like to make for you, and please include that funny story about how you got a speeding ticket, rushing home to get started. Just remember that only a simple letter and picture are required and that may be what you receive from your partner.)

Partners will be assigned on December 15th. You will complete your project and send your letter by January 24th. You can start making your item when you sign up or you can wait until partners are assigned.

Please put a note in the comments saying what you have chosen. Others may be at a total loss of what to make for themselves without your idea!

Remember, this item is for you. If your heart sings for rainbows and death metal and your partner hates both, it doesn’t matter. This craft is for you and you alone. You only have to share the joy of making something you love for YOU.

can i fiiiiinish something i started forever ago and have shoved aside for years? if it takes the time given to finish?

Loonstruck 11/18/2010 #

If you're sure you'll finish it. Started projects are deceptive, we were so willing to put them aside before so we may be willing to do it again.

I have half a dozen photos that I took in order to turn them into pictures but have not done so yet.

Okay, saving socks for another time. Decided on something I'd get more use out of....a neckwarmer!!! I can't wait to wear it to work today.
