Description:

Ok everyone, for our second zentangle bookmark swap, I've decided to make this one international.

Each participant will have 1 partner, and make 1 handmade zentangle bookmark and send it to that partner.

The design/theme will be SENDERS CHOICE. Wherever your pen, pencil or marker takes you :) You can choose to do only one side, or both sides, it's up to you.

I'm going to push the signup date up to January due to the holiday season being busy for some people. You can still work on your bookmark in the meantime if you like, but we will not have our partners assigned until Jan, 2011.

Please Note A bookmark sleeve is NOT necessary for this swap. The picture above does show one, but you don't need to have one. You can use one if you like, as well you can laminate your bookmark if you like, or add a tassle, but none of these are a requirement. It's up to the creator.

  • What is Zentangle?

Zentangle is an easy to learn method of creating beautiful images from repetitive patterns. It is a fascinating new art form that is fun and relaxing. It increases focus and creativity. Zentangle provides artistic satisfaction and an increased sense of personal well being. Zentangle is enjoyed by a wide range of skills and ages and is used in many fields of interest.

We believe that life is an art form and that Zentangle is an elegant metaphor for deliberate artistry in life. Explore our web site and learn how you can use this wonderful and uplifting discovery.

Please visit their website to learn more.

  • IMPORTANT DETAILS

The bookmark should measure between 2 x 7 to 2 x 8 inches ( this size fits into a standard bookmark sleeve ). Also, the bookmark should be made with a material that is somewhat sturdy ( for example, cardstock, bristol board or watercolor paper. ) We would like them to hold up both in the mail, and also for those who would like to use them in their books :)

It is OK if you don't have a sleeve for your bookmark that you send. Please make sure to package it well so it will not be damaged in transit.

Participants MUST have a 4.9 rating or higher, with no recent 1's or 3's to join this swap. I reserve the right to ban swappers who I believe may be detrimental to the swap. Please have your profile filled out before joining. People who are new and appear somewhat anonymous will not be able to participate.

Have fun!

Where can I find bookmark sleeves?

nasreen 12/ 6/2010 #

If I cannot find a bookmark sleave, can I laminate it and add a tassle?

Faeorain 12/ 6/2010 #

@nasreen ..Sure, you can laminate the bookmark if you like.

Faeorain 12/ 6/2010 #

@sundaeschool ...I have found them for sale on etsy and ebay in the past. You can check out those sites if you wish to buy some, but you don't need to have one for this swap so you don't have to worry about that :) I only set the size guidelines for the swap to the average size in case someone has a sleeve already and would like to use it for the bookmark they receive, but a sleeve is not necessary for the swap. Just make sure to pad the envelope with something to protect it from the postal system hazards.

Thank you for replying and I look forward to this swap.

do both sides of the bookmark need to be zentangled?

Jester777 12/20/2010 #

Says it's up to you as far as both sides go Tommie.

Also, what I like to do instead of laminating is stick my bookmark between to pieces of clear packing tape and trimming around the edges. It takes a bit of practice, but it has a great finished look and is quick and affordable. You can hole punch through the tape and add a tassel too!

My book marks are just shy of two inches, is that ok? They are 7x1 3/4". I"m hesitant to sign up if I don't have the ok on this as some can get mighty picky over little details.

Faeorain 12/28/2010 #

@coleenfranks , I just replied to your PM. I will sort of summarize what I wrote there, as well as add one more thing. If I were your partner I would not care, but some people may be picky about it. You will have to decide what to do concerning the swap. If you choose to stay in the swap, you can always wait to find out who your partner is and ask them if it's ok. I think the chances are pretty good that they won't have a problem with it. However, if they prefer that it sticks to the guidelines, you can always make another one for them, and save the other bookmark for future swaps. It's up to you on how to proceed.

Faeorain 12/28/2010 #

@Tommie , you can do one or both sides...the choice is yours, but you DO have to draw on at least ONE side...I suppose that goes without saying, but I figured I write that anyway, ha ha :)

Tommie 01/ 2/2011 #

great! i did both sides! thanks!!!! cant wait.

stlouisphile 01/ 7/2011 #

Is it ok if I'm a newbie at creating zentangles? I just started this week and don't want to disappoint my partner.

Faeorain 01/ 9/2011 #

@stlouisphile , sorry I didn't see this post before now, but yes...it's ok if you are new at making zentangles. Everyone has to start somewhere. : ) Have fun!

@jester777 what a great idea with the packing tape! I looked @ Hobby Lobby last night and couldn't find any bookmark sleeves. I will use your idea and see if I can make it look good!! =D Thanks!
