Description:

Who doesn't love handmade cotton washcloths? (Or alliteration?)

Useful-handmade-pretty-no more nasty sponges...for me it's a win-win-win-win situation! I was introduced to them a few years ago & now I use them in both kitchen & bathroom. At first I was afraid to "waste" them, but now that I know how easy they are to knit...well, why shouldn't we all be using them? Plus all of the fun colors & designs make me happy to look at them in my drawer or shelf.

Also, a while ago I received some super-scratchy wool yarn that nobody would want to wear. I knitted a simple rectangle in garter stitch, maybe 4"x6" and started using it in the kitchen as a scrubby...it felted & works pretty well. Every so often I have to take a step-up to a brush or metal one, but not very often. It's great for scrubbing the sink too. The best part...they take no time at all because it's just garter stitch, no thinking required! :)

=====================> UPDATED 2-18-2011 <=====================
If you do not have scratchy wool you can still make a scrubby cloth...you can add tulle to your fabulous soft wool to make it scratchy. :)

Here is the swap description:

Make a cotton washcloth/dishcloth & a wool scrubby for your partner, then send it to them.

Please choose a color that your partner likes, at least for the washcloth. You may use any scratchy annoying wool you have for the scrubby.

Suggestion: Try a new stitch & make that swatch into a washcloth...I have the Vogue Knitting Stitch-a-Day calendar & have been trying out different stitches. The swatches knit-up to be the size of a small washcloth (perfect for my small hands) & end up being useful if I knit them in cotton.

This has a longer send-by time to fit into my personal swap schedule. If you want it for a different time frame let me know or just start your own swap...I won't be offended. If you want to start a swap & are not already an officer, let me know & I'll "queen" you.
