Recipe Slam Book Swap #1

Not sure how a recipe slam works. Does each person add a recipe or what?? Beth Creason

Each person will add one recipe and then send it off in the next swap. When it's full it will be sent to the person it was made for.

I'm new to slams too -- how many pages should it have? Is there a particular size it needs to be?

They vary in size and pages. You want to make sure it can be easily mailed, so you don't want to make it too big. I think about 10 pages or so would be good. The more pages there are the longer it takes to get back to the person it was made for and it would add to the shipping cost.

this sounds like loads of fun... ive just googled slam books and it seems that they are spiralbound notebooks? for this swap could i make my own using a bind it all in a 4x4 format? and how does it come back?? do i put my address into the book? sorry, i probably should not join a swap i know nothing about :D but it does sound like such fun especially as i collect recipes..

You can use anything you have around the house PeNeLoPe I have seen them attached with ribbon, brads and a bunch of other things. You would not want it to be spiral they would be to long just use your imagination and have fun making it. As far as how it gets back to you. You could make it and have it ready and when partners are assigned you would add on the front cover or inside front cover put Made By: and that would be your information And then an area for Made For: I will have to touch base with Elly about something so there will be more info to follow! PeNeLoPe~ I would make the slam yourself attaching around 10 papers/recipe cards together inside a cover. My friend Shannon just made one that was really cute. She made the recipe cards from card stock and a recipe stamp. She also made a cover for it. She punched a whole in the corner of each and put a metal ring through them. Like hthrhere said you wouldn't want to use a sprial notebook as there are too many pages. It would take years to get passed around and sent back to whom it was made for. thanks for the answers girls :) i was thinking of using my bind it all with a 2mm (5 ring) binding, but ribbon or bookrings will work for me too as i love making minibooks anyway :)

the recipe card one sounds amazing.. might try that.. if i were to make it up and put it in my picasa, would you take a peek and see if its ok before i sign up?

ohh i think the penny just dropped.. so "i" make the book FOR my partner, so that the whole thing gets sent back to my partner rather than me...

Elly are we making them for our partner and then sending them to our partner?

lol im totally confused now.. maybe ill give this a miss after all.. i read your comment to say "made by ... " "for ... partner's name and details" then send it to your partner.. but i may be wrong???

i thought that then in the next round the books get passed round??

i gather that were decorating the slambook FOR our partners, not ourselves right??? i "think" i got it... ive played in photoshop today and made some recipe cards that i just need 2 print off and then decorate the cover IF i got the right idea here...

We are making the recipe slam for our partner and then sending it to our partner. And you will receive one from your other partner. You will be able to pass yours around in future swaps. When it is full it will be passed back to you. : ) This may take a while. LOL!!
