Description:

Swap cards are a wonderful invention!

You will make 20 decorated swap cards for your partner.

What is a swap card? A little card that you include with your swaps so your partner knows who is sending it to them and for which swap --- they are also useful to keep by the computer and refer to when you are rating your received swaps.

What size is a swap card? Generally, about the size of a business card (2" x 3 1/2"). They don't have to be exactly that size, they can vary a little.

EDITED FOR CLARITY: What information goes on a swap card? "Swap-bot" if you like, plus the sender's name as well as headings such as "Swap", "Date", and "Item(s)". The latter is included so that your partner can recall what they are rating you for without necessarily having the swap in front of them. I like to leave one side blank to write a note to my partner.

What do you use to make a swap card? Normally, white or coloured cardstock (ordinary paper is a bit too flimsy). But there is nothing stopping you from being creative here if you want to try other materials as long as the card has the required info on it and can be written on on both sides.

How do you make a swap card? Anyway you like! Some of us buy the sheets of business cards that you can feed through a printer, others cut up cardstock by hand or with a paper cutter.

How do you decorate a swap card? Again, anyway you like, as long as you take into consideration your partner's preferences as per their profile! With computer graphics, clipart, photos, digitally produced designs, stickers, glitter, tiny rhinestones, even handrawn if you have the time, talent and inclination!

Please be careful when inputing the text for the cards - it is so disappointing to receive swap cards with incorrect or misspelled info on them.

And please, no special requests below - it is sender's choice, guided by your profile.

Any questions, please pm me as well.

Have fun!

I haven't heard of these yet, but they sound so cool :)

Do you really mean we should make 20 cards, for each of 5 different swap partners? That's 100 cards, which seems like an awful lot of work!

I have been swapping for a VERY long time, have made swap cards often, but agree with Kessie's comment - this swap is requiring us to make 100 cards - I put quite a bit of work into my swap cards, rather than just "run them off" - so will pass on this swap, which gives us only two weeks to make them, (we don't find out who our partners ARE until two weeks before we have to mail them....

anyway, good luck to you, swap cards ARE a blast to make and receive!!

I'm in agreeance with everyone else. I'd love to make these, but 100 is way too many. I would say maybe 5 for each partner would be sufficient. Just a suggestion.

Or, to save on postage, just a couple of partners?

I agree with the ladies above - this sounds like fun, but WAY too many to make. 20 cards for one partner is more my speed, or 10 for 2 different people. But 5 different partners is a lot of creative energy in not a lot of time.

Couple of partners would be good. I'm watching this swap now to see if it changes. Would love to join, but not up to making 100 cards.

This sounds like a really neat swap idea, and I would love to participate.
