whats the difference between string and ribbon?

You'd put string around a piece of meat (or your finger), and ribbon around a present :)

okay so ribbon is bigger and maybe sometimes decorated with pictures or words and string is thin? sorry, my dictionary translates both words the same so i was confused.

String is typically fibres braided or twisted together, examples or synonyms would be yarn, cord, twine, etc. Think "functional". Ribbon like you said is more decorative, they can be made with fibres woven together, or can be plastic. Ribbons are wide and thin, whereas string is cylindrical. I hope that helps :)

Could you please explain a little more.In the swap title should there be a comma between rubbed and ribbon? Otherwise explain what a rubbed ribbon is. Thanks.
