Description:

Taken from the original Check my Skillz swap and altered slightly to fit just 1 partner...

For this swap you are going to put your crafting hat on and make things :)

Take a gander at the list below and choose something to make yourself and send to your partner. This is not a quick turn-around swap - it'll take effort and time.

Pick three items from the list for your partner. No store-bought or made by someone else allowed. You can alter and existing item, but do it so that your creativity comes through. Slapping a sticker on something and calling it altered will not do. With this swap you can really let your creativity come through. Where it says no altered allowed, that will take precedence.

You have to adhere to the amount specified for each item otherwise you did not meet requirements. You can make the items from cloth, yarn or paper (where applicable. A paper pincushion is just a bit silly). This will give us all the same playing field as we all have different skills :)

*Note - only one of the ATC, Skinny or Inchie items can be picked as they are all quite similar.

THE LIST:

5 bookmarks / bookthongs

3 ATC's (2.5x3.5" artwork)

3 skinnies (basically 3x5" ATC's)

8 inchies

6 twinchies ( basically 2x2" inchies)

4 notecards (envies optional and notecards blank, no altered allowed. Make from scratch)

5 handmade postcards (blank for your partner to use; no altered allowed. Make from scratch)

8 handmade envies (sturdy for post and mailable size; no altered envies allowed. Make from scratch)

1 doll (any medium e.g. paperdoll, stuffie, spoolie, mini ami, dotee, button fairy, altered doll etc.)

1 or 2 altered 32ct matchbox (if sent empty, make 2; if stuffed, send 1. Stuffing not need to be handmade)

1 big matchbox diorama / shrine

1 chunky book (min 20 pages decorated - as you would number pages in a book is how to count 20 pages; min size 14x9 cm)

3 lettersets (2 x A4 or 4 x A5 pages per envie; 3 envies per letterset)

1 pincushion (comfortable usable size)

1 needlebook (to hold at least 30 needles or pins comfortably)

1 carved rubber stamp (at least 5x5 cm)

1 sewn pencil bag or tote bag or shopping bag

1 handmade pendant

1 cuff bracelet

1 small trinket box

If there is something you want to see on the list, please let me know. If the number attached to a certain element seems unfair, please let me know. I do not craft all the things on the list, but think 1 ATC for a pincushion is unfair. Trying to balance out effort.

This is sender's choice. Send what you are proud of. For inspiration go onto Flickr. For clarification on what each element is go here for the SB craft and swap terminology. I'll obviously also answer any questions.

4 weeks to craft - more than fair. Package for SAPO rough-handedness.

Requirements to join:

2 rated type 3 rswap will get you in. This is a heavy craft swap and don't want anyone overwhelmed. Making it two partners to get 2 ratings for your effort. PM me about recent 1's and 3's. Group rules apply after that. If you're unsure if you make the cut, PM me and I'll let you know :) Will not want to stand in between you and glory - teehee

Let's have fun everyone :)

Hmmm - looks familiar ;p

Earthworm 08/ 2/2011 #

For the doll, can I make a teddy bear? What size does medium fall into in cm?

Runebound 08/ 2/2011 #

Hehe - yep, that's why it's called the sequel :) figured it worked well the first time, people were asking for more so we give em more!

Teddy bear is fine as a doll (any type of ami or stuffie is fine as well) - I'd put medium at approx 15 cm high

emrajr69 08/ 2/2011 #

May I join?

Runebound 08/ 4/2011 #

Of course!

nasreen 08/ 4/2011 #

I am on the watch list until a day before assigning partners.

nasreen 08/ 4/2011 #

p.s PLEASE don't start without me... I promise to join at the right time.

katara 08/11/2011 #

...waiting for Runebound to edit the swap (as suggested) before I join in....

nasreen 08/11/2011 #

what was the suggestion?

katara 08/11/2011 #

This is what I said:

I noticed that a lot of the crafts on the list for this swap is paper based. I would love to see more sewing, crochet, jewellery making crafts as this is more my kind of thing.

Suggestions:

a sewn pencil bag or tote bag or shopping bag

handmade pendants

an amigurumi

cuff bracelet

a small trinket box

And perhaps you could stipulate that swappers can only choose to craft 1 of the following:

3 ATC's (2.5x3.5" artwork)

3 skinnies (basically 3x5" ATC's)

8 inchies

6 twinchies ( basically 2x2" inchies)

As these crafts are so similar - I would hate to receive 3 of the above items. I think variety is key. This is just my opinion.

nasreen 08/12/2011 #

I think mini ami is the same as amigurumi and that is up there and falls under the category as dolls.I like those suggestions. I hope @Runebound does take that into consideration because it is her swap and I respect her wishes either way.

Runebound 08/12/2011 #

have made the changes except for the ami as that is listed under the doll item.

Sorry it took so long!

katara 08/12/2011 #

Thanks for adding the suggestions!

nasreen 08/13/2011 #

Thank you @Runebound much appraciated.

MurphyPagan 08/13/2011 #

I would like to know something please. It says MUST stick to the yada. What about sending more than just the items, in other words can we actually send the initial item(s) and add extras of something else from the list if we are so inclined? Will that be held against us?

nasreen 08/13/2011 #

I think that is really up to us, I have never seen someone complain from getting extras.

MurphyPagan 08/15/2011 #

Thanks, I only ask because of this statement in the requirements:

"You have to adhere to the amount specified for each item otherwise you did not meet requirements."

Earthworm 08/15/2011 #

Do we have to tell who ever we are swapping with, what we are making for them? Or is it a surprise?

Runebound 08/19/2011 #

Your choice really I think

Runebound 08/19/2011 #

I think for extras check with the person you're sending to just to be on the safe side, but I don't think anyone here would mind getting extras!

Mar1l1ze 08/24/2011 #

I love all the extra options given - it def expanded my horizons.

Runebound 08/26/2011 #

Just to clarify, the only paper options that you have to pick one only of are the atc, inchie and trinchies.

Atc's and envies for example would be perfectly fine.

Runebound 08/31/2011 #

Send out date edited to Monday since it's just silly to have a send out date on a Friday xo
