Hiiii I’m Catie, I’m 31 years old and from Detroit, MI. I love traveling, hanging with my cat (named Potato), going to dinner/drinks, doing crafts, road trips, reading Wikipedia, going out dancing, and going to random events around my city.

I love snail mail and sending/receiving it. It’s a fun way to connect with unexpected people from around the world! I started collecting postcards 7 years ago and began sending them with online communities in 2020 and I’m pretty active on Postcrossing. Always open to swap with anyone :)

I love doing crafts, collaging, and junk journaling, making zines, and always love finding new penpals! It makes me so excited to see everyone’s unique style/art that they make or send during swap. It’s cool to see everyone’s style.

I also LOVE to try and reuse things or give them a second life, whether it be making envelopes out of cool pages in magazines, or cutting things up to collage with. I think it’s fun to be creative in that sense and I love when someone else sends me similar things that they were able to rework and be creative with!

I love all postcards, but some favorites are: -all Animals (cats, cows, elephants, dogs are my favorite) -Cityscapes -Garfield -Snoopy -Hello Kitty -Places the sender has recently traveled (tell me about your trip) -Something from the sender’s hometown (tell me something you love about where you live or a little history) -Anything unique -any thing that features art -Postcards that highlight interesting cultures -“Busy” design/Postcards that have a lot going on visually

For my fellow swappers in the US, it’s been very bleak in our country with this dangerous administration and domestic terriost ICE agents. I’m hoping everyone is taking care of themselves and spending time with their community. This has been a nice way for me to slow down and connect with people in a different fashion. I would love to hear about things that have helped you get through the last year or so. I understand people want to not think/talk about “politics” on website but it feels like a privilege to be able to not think about the ongoing horrors within this country and we’re stronger when we have a sense of community and communication! 🍉🍉🍉🍉
