About Me

After 32 years in NYC, I now live in rural upstate New York. Have a bossy welsh corgi named Willow and a Great Pyrenees named Samantha Aquiline. Amateur Photographer. I have a small flock of 4 ducks -- 2 Cayugas (Raven and Luna) and 2 Welsh Harlequins (Bea and Gracie). I am an activist in independent politics, working to reform and open up the democratic process. Avid letter writer, reader of books, collector of fountain pens. Love owls, birds of all kinds. Love postage stamps, often use vintage ones in sending mail.

Favorite Books

Tough one, I read several books a month and read across lots of genres.Belong to Austin Kleon's Literati book club -- great selections on creative process. Harry Potter series, The books of Geraldine Brooks. Jon Katz's books on living with dogs (the best!!), poetry--Neruda, haiku, Sharon Olds, Mary Oliver, Ted Kooser.

Favorite Music

Jake Shimabukuro (amazing ukelele player); HAPA (from Hawaii); classical and new age; Josh Bell (violinist); Sting; Jazz; Movie scores; Diana Krall; Adele, Bon Iver

Favorite Television

The Mandolorian, The Royal, Chicago Med, This Is Us, Boston Legal (still getting the reruns), Downton Alley, Foyle's War, Masters of Sex, Homeland!!!, The Americans, The Hour

Comment: We have just pasted Halloween, and I am unpacking from a retreat to only repack for another in a week, going to one in Adelaide to see Vicki Boutin eek! In Darwin via First Nations Lore there are 6 seasons, but most people only know 2 wet season meaning high humidity and also heat and our beautiful Dry season meaning cool mornings, sunny days and no humidity. Thanks for the extras.

Comment: Hi Cathy! I love the owl postcard and I love owls too! I have never seen one in the wild though. I hear them all the time but they remain hidden from me. Eagles I have seen. I see them a lot actually because they are always around the lake and I live less than a mile away. Happy swapping! 🦉
