Darkling

Hi, my name is Saskia. I'm 32 years old and live in Rotterdam in the Netherlands. In the past I've swapped in Facebook groups, but I quit when more and more swappers in those groups became unreliable, but now I was starting to miss the good parts about swapping. When I googled swapping, this is where I ended up and I love this idea of a good rating system. That way I hope I won't be flaked on as often as before. I always try to put a lot of effort into making my swaps, so I highly appreciate it when my partner does the same. If you are my swap partner and haven't received anything from me in a reasonable amount of time, please contact me before rating down. I don't mind re-sending, because sometimes stuff happens in the mail and we should all have good swapping experiences. Every now and then, when I will be low on swaps on my dashboard, I will try to angel a few swaps from people I come across during my time here and who have mentioned swaps they've been flaked on on their profiles. I hope doing so will inspire more people to do the same. I'm really looking forward to meeting new people and having great swap experiences.

Let me mention my favourites all in one place. I love music and have as long as I remember. As a kid I always played instruments, but as a teenager my preferences changed to singing and listening to other people perform. I love going to concerts and music festivals. Nowadays my favourite genres are rock and metal. I'll list the artists of some of my favourite songs here, but the list isn't nearly complete ;-). I prefer the English language for reading, but if the original was written in Dutch, that's good as well. I have quite a diverse selection of books in my collection, so I think I'm pretty easy to please. Some of the genres I almost always love are supernatural thrillers; the type of adventure where an academic has to decipher a trail of clues to a hidden "treasure" (like Dan Brown,Matthew Reilly, Will Adams, David Gibbins) that's easy to read; vampirefiction; anything atheism-related, fiction or non-fiction about drug use and abuse; historic fiction. Some of my favourite authors are: Barbara Vine, I love the way her stories slowly unfold like a documentary; Anne Rice, the unmistakable queen of vampire fiction; Laurell K. Hamilton; Kim Harrison; Sherrilyn Kenyon; Janet Evanovich, I love her Stephanie Plum series; Karin Slaughter, Clive Barker, Sarah Waters, Leah Stewart. I don't stick much to genres, so I'll just name some of the movies that I have enjoyed watching. Other crafts I like are knitting, cross-stitch embroidery, drawing, writing short stories (these do fall under crafts since you're creating something, right?), mixed media and many others. I usually try to focus on only a few hobbies at a time, since I simply like too much to be doing it all at once. That's why I will try to focus on swapping ATCs and inchies mostly, if I have to create something for a swap. Things I like to do beside listening to music, reading, watching television and movies, papercrafting and other creative outbursts, are geocaching, walking, talking to friends, exchanging long letters with my friends and penpals, spending time with my boyfriend.

For myself I would like fruity and/or spicy teas. Examples of favourite fruit flavours are: blackcurrant, raspberry, cherry, peach, pear, apple. I also enjoy teas with cinnamon, honey, ginger, licorice, fennel, etc. I would be equally happy to receive chai or rooibos teas and anything that is caffeinefree for my roommate.

I'm not very picky, but if you would like to know the things I like least, here they are: plain unflavoured black and green teas, loose leaf (unless you include a filter bag ;-) ), sour or zesty teas.

My favourite colours are black, teal and dark purple, but I also like olivegreen and turquoise. I really love baroque and vintage patterns and images. On ATCs I would like to see any of the interests I've mentioned above. Other ATC themes that I like are, amongst other things: historic figures, vampires, anything dark and twisted and humorous, glitter, all in one colour, altered bookpages, ancient Egypt, butterflies, flowers, mythical creatures, anything by Graphic 45 or DCWV or K & Company, steampunk, witches, Halloween (all year), love, faeries, anything supernatural or creepy, made from a different material than cardstock (like fabric or clay or wood), sugarskulls, goth. If you are a good artist, you can assume I would always prefer handdrawn artwork.

I do not have a preference for receiving them naked or in an envelope; just choose whichever way you like best. The things I like most are postcards that show your area or something exceptionally beautiful or interesting from another area in your country. If a swap is sender's choice, but you wish to aim for hearts, here's some themes that I like on a postcard:historic figures, vampires, anything dark and twisted and humorous, glitter, ancient Egypt, butterflies, flowers, mythical creatures, steampunk, witches, Halloween (all year), love, faeries, anything supernatural or creepy, graveyards/cemeteries, sugarskulls, goth, In the past I've received some postcards in swaps with very rude, adult humour and I would love to get more and I prefer to get those without writing in an envelope, because I have a few penpals who really enjoy those and I have a hard time finding them.
