I see many people have this disclaimer, so I will add one too. Please let me know if you haven't received anything from me, or need me to send postage because I didn't put enough on. I want this to be fun for me and the people I swap with, I don't want to be a problem. Just contact me if I need to make something right.
I'm a retired mother of boy/girl twins and enjoy getting things in the mail. I live near the Blue Ridge mountains in Virginia with my husband, although I grew up in New Jersey. I say I'm in exile here, I would go back if I could afford to do that.
In my previous NJ life, I got married in 1991, and worked as a chemical lab technician, a useful career in industrial NJ. I worked for Anheuser-Busch in their baker's yeast plant; and then for Union Carbide, after their disaster at Bhopal, in R&D wire and cable. I really liked that job, but my husband was very unhappy in his job and got a job offer in Virginia. I was seven months pregnant with twins at the time, and unlike NJ, VA is not known for its industrial livelihood, so besides raising children and a couple of part time jobs, I haven't worked in years.
I'm an avid needleworker, I do cross stitch, needlepoint and surface embroidery. I enjoy sending and receiving postcards, I like almost all types of cards, even boring ones.
I read A LOT. I mostly like cozy mysteries, but have drifted into more hard core detective novels, and the occasional nonfiction nature book.
I look forward to meeting and swapping with everyone.
Food allergies: I don't have any life threatening allergies, but I avoid soy, dairy and peanut products.
Likes and dislikes: I'm interested in many things, and I'm a Gemini, so my likes can change in an instant. I'm really struggling with what to write here, I like lots of things.
A person can't go wrong with me if it involves black tea, anything to do with tea, interesting buildings, historical places, animals, gardens, sunrises and sunsets, nature, and funny sayings. I really don't want to discourage creativity, so remember these are guidelines, I'm interested in everything.
I'm currently reading mysteries with food and/or pets. My current reads include two tea mysteries, and I'm having trouble keeping them separate in my mind. It's actually kind of fun, and I'm thinking of adding a third tea mystery to mix it up. I'm finally reading, actually listening to Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil. I'm waiting for the evil to start. I'm cross stitching an Alice in Wonderland themed pattern, and one with a fantasy castle.
I don't like cruelty, anything with graphic violence, or jokes making fun of something a person can't help like ethnicity or a birth defect.
