It is nice of you to let your partners know what happened and keep them posted of the items that are late... but if things are so chaotic , you should try to drop a few swaps that weren´t assigned and take a break from tagging, otherwise you will go crazy trying to mail everything and deal with your loss!!!
I´m sure you don´t want to end up with a few non-sends and very frustrated people :/
