The gel medium technique is a pain. Some things that have worked for me is using the x-tra thick gel, spreading it with a palette knife and waiting 10 to 15 minutes, (longer the thicker the it is on the card)to impress a foam stamp. Sometimes they just don't come out?
I can't find the magazine, of course. So here is how I remember making the paper. First select different types of paper, not to heavy.( I used a lot of packing paper.) Scrunch it up, paint it with either lumiere paints or paints mixed with pearl ex. After the first layer, let dry, then scrunch again and use a different paint. Do that over and over until 75% to 85% of the paper is covered. Then mixed up different fabric dyes, brush these on the paper. Either different colors or shades of one. If it still needs something you can lightly rub shiva sticks over different parts. One thing keep the size of the paper manageable. I also used cheap handmade wrapping paper I got from World Market.
