Hello! My name is Quinn (they/them pronouns please) and I am a 25-year-old Canadian PhD student researching animal welfare and behaviour. I am an animal fanatic and I have a wonderful little feline 6-year-old companion of my own named Cosima. I grew up in Canada for most of my life. Eventually my dream would be to move into a converted van and travel around the world conducting animal welfare research. I would consider myself an activist for those whose voices are often silenced. More specifically I am a vegan animal rights activist and an advocate for queer and LGBTQIA+ equality and representation.

Having grown up in Calgary and being born in Texas I think one can assume that I love country music. I have quite a love for folk music as well and Broadway/musical theatre music as I was involved with the theatre a lot as a child and young adult. I play the flute in an orchestra so classical music and orchestra music is also a passion of mine. Besides that, as I am a lover of the arts I can really get into any music as long as it is not offensive or spreading a message about the treatment of women or people in general that I do not agree with.

Mostly for other entertainment I watch YouTube but when I do watch shows it is Wentworth, Orange is the New Black, Black Mirror, Orphan Black, Scandal, How to Get Away with Murder, Grey’s Anatomy, Downton Abbey and Gilmore Girls to name a few.

I am a huge sports player/fan as I am a rugby player and ballet dancer so anything rugby or dance related I love. I am also from the Harry Potter era and I love vintage/magical looking stationery so anything Harry Potter is also a favourite. I am a Ravenclaw. I absolutely ADORE miniature things. I don’t know why but I do. The smaller in relation to normal size the better.

Moving Stationery (my stationery brand) - I am a long-time letter writer, originally using it as a way to stay in touch with camp friends and, then later when I moved away, Calgary friends. Now I also love meeting and getting to know new pen-pals from around the world. I have been writing letters regularly for about 10 years now and I am so excited that this site exists to expand the possibilities of meeting and exchanging things with people around the world. I have always been a huge stationery fan and in the last couple years have created a brand called ‘Moving Stationery’ that allows me to create cards and stationery to encourage people to express how they feel to those they love in letters. I think it is so important to have excellent communication and connection with the living beings around us and sometimes that is best achieved with the help of a hand-written letter. It is also an amazing way to keep in touch with friends who live very far away.

My stationery and letter writing style tends to be minimalistic and clean with a Japanese inspired flare, although this varies with what my paper collection offers me at the time. I love gold and silver accents and am learning the art of Illuminated letters and gilding.
