This is me.....

I am new to this website. I met a friend last year who is big into this. She told me about it and I’ve always wanted to check it out, but was so busy that I never had the time. My husband is active duty and I work full-time. He was deployed last year, so it was just too much. However, he is home now and I am recovering from a torn ACL. I just had my surgery tow weeks ago and I have LOTS of time on my hands.

I’m 47 and I have four children. Only two are still in the house. My eldest is 22, married and has one child (my lovely grandson) and another one on the way. My son is 18 and is in college, studying to be an engineer. My other two daughters live with us, they are 11 and 9.

We currently live in Germany as we are stationed here. We love it and all of the travel opportunities. We’ve been to Poland, Czech, Germany (of course), Switzerland, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, England, Finland, Norway, Estonia, Italy and Russia. There are still so many more places to see before we move back to the States.

I love all crafts…anything handmade thrills me, so it is hard to stop me from buying things that I could use to make something. This does mean I am a hoarder, especially since we live in Germany…I order lots of things online, because the fibers craft supplies are very expensive here…I can find them cheaper through the internet and there is more variety.

I cross-stitch, hardanger, sew and quilt. My profile picture is a quilt I made a few years ago that was used for a raffle. It raised $900 (but some of that money was give to me for buying the materials and sewing it). I like to paint and scrapbook…and try any craft…my husband used to call me “spacecraft” because I would get lost in thought thinking about a project. I have more fabric and paper products than anyone should be allowed to have (don’t tell my husband I said that).

I have been a US Girl Scout, forever…I love working with the girls, exploring new things, the outdoors, science, history and heritage…whatever comes up. I love planning activities. I have planned a lot of large scale scouting events and camps. In scouts we make swaps for our events and trade them…I love that part of our events! I have quite a collection! 

I like the four seasons…I like thunderstorms and snow! I love to hike in the woods and walk in the rain.

I hate phony people. When I meet someone, I consider them a friend for life. In my military life, we move and we meet someone we may only see for a year or two...it is sad to leave, but with the internet and Facebook, we can stay in touch…

I don’t like bullies, close-minded people who won’t try something new before they say no or talk bad about it. I really don’t like gossipers. Life is too short to spend it treating others badly.

I don’t like cleaning my oven. I don’t like to wash dishes with egg or peanut butter on them (the smell is what I don’t like).
