Description:

Christmas is just around the corner! It's my favorite holiday and my favorite time of year. I also LOVE quotes & sayings so let's combine the 2 and make an advent calendar with quotes as the "tuck in".

This is sender's choice - the calendar can be any Christmas theme you choose. There are a number of ways you can make your calendar. You can choose to make you calendar with pretty papers and embellishments, you can use small boxes, felt, material, sewing. It can be flat or 3 dimensional. You may tuck the quotes or sayings in something or have them revealed when a flap is lifted. The quotes do not have to be all Christmas related but keep them uplifting, inspirational, motivational, life, friendship, love, and the like.

Each calendar must include 25 days and each day must be numbered. Day 25 starts the calendar (or the recipient must remember to open day 25 first and count down the days). Thus the calendar must be received by December 1st. OR Day 1 can start the calendar and leave day #25 until the end since that is Christmas Day. Either way - sender's choice but it must include 25 days!

Finally, the last day (Day 1 OR Day 25) Christmas Day must include a small gift with a quote/saying. This gift can be part of the calendar or separate but it must be wrapped so the receiver may open it on Christmas Day. The quote gift may be handmade or store bought - it can be something as simple as a bookmark or magnet or can be something such as a small plaque, small book, or jewelry. Again this is sender's choice but be sure to check your partner's profile for likes and dislikes.

As Christmas is a traditional religious holiday Bible verses may be used as a quote but don't limit all the quotes to verses unless you are absolutely sure your partner would not mind.

For some inspiration on Advent calendars do a Google search or see a few examples below:

REQUIREMENTS to particpate - you must be a member in good standing with a well-filled out profile & have atleast 10 rated type 3 swaps. As always, I reserve the right to ban.

Please note: this is a USA only swap due to the time restraints and postal delivery. If YOU would like to host an international swap of the same - feel free to do so!

A couple of my idea images were coming up with the wrong picture - I think I've fixed them now :)

I collect advent calendars and have many different patterens for them, however, every one I have only has 24 days. I'm confused. I guess I could try adding another pocket to one of them if I decide to join. I don't know I've been flaked on or had my swap sent late (days after the mail deadline) on all but two of the swaps I've done. I ALWAYS send my swaps early on and provide a confirmation number and I'd hate to get flaked on for this one or not have my advent calendar by December first. It's a lot to think about.

@Dragon68 you do not have to alter your pattern just add the last day which is Christmas Day with a wrapped quote gift and the number. Yes, it's 24 days until Christmas but Christmas Day is the 25th thus my reasoning to have 25 days :) If you notice the calendar in the above photo it has 25 days.

Secondly, I made this a USA only swap for the reason that we want to receive by the 1st of Decemeber (hopefully). It's over a week if someone sends by the last day to receive the package. That should be sufficent amount of time for the USPS. But of coarse we can't help mail mishaps. We just hope for none.

Finally, I HATE flakers too and I will view every profile before assigning partners. I guess it's the chance we all take anytime we swap.

:-)

I love this idea! I was thinking it would be easier for people to keep track of whether they have opened that day if Dec 1st is day 1, counting UP... then if 7 is not open and it's Dec 8th, you know no one opened yesterday's door yet... but that's just a suggestion. It's a lovely idea!

I was thinking that myself :) I'll change it and leave it as an option either way.

Even though I am Canadian, I have joined this swap because @angkb is an awesome swap host - oh, and also because I will be in Florida Nov. 6 - Dec. 18. (";)

I will change over to my US address next week, but if anyone needs it before then, please pm me. Thx.

I have been working on my calendar this weekend and really hope my partner likes it. I'm having a lot of fun putting it together :) I can't wait to see what my partner comes up with. So many ideas! Too bad more people didn't join us!

Yes, this has been a fun swap to work on. Thanks for hosting, Angela! ♥

You're welcome Tami! And I'm done with my calendar! It was a lot of work but I really like it a lot and want to make more of them now :)

Advised angkb on Nov. 22 that I would be sending 1 day late. Mailed today with DC - expected to be delivered by Saturday or Monday.
