Description:

I want to thank everyone for making my Leap Day Postcard Swap so popular. I had no idea so many people would sign up. However, there has been much trepidation about getting a postcard postmarked on Leap Day. This swap is for those that do not have access to a post office that will hand cancel.

For this swap you will still send one postcard to one person on Leap Day, Wednesday, February 29, 2012 (2-29-10). The postcard is sender’s choice. It can be about Lead Day or anything else. The postcard should be sent naked*, stamped and written on. The postcards can be store bought or professionally printed. Please keep the content family friendly. This is open internationally (29-2-12) and newbies are welcome.

This is where it differs from the original Leap Day PC Swap. As long as the postcard is stamped within a few days of Leap Day then the sender should be rated a 5. Anything marked on or before... hmmm… let’s say March 3rd gets the full rating of a 5. Illegible postmarks should also get a rating of 5. Basically, this swap is all about having fun & being able to celebrate Leap Day Swap-bot style even though your local PO won’t hand cancel.

Please contact your partner before rating less than a 5. Also, remember to write the name of the swap and your name on the postcard. I will angel but, obviously, the angelled postcard will have a later post date.

For those lucky swappers that do have access to hand stamped cancelling at the post office, the sister swap to this one is here: "http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/110859

*Naked means not in an envelope. :-)

Yay! I'm joining this one instead! The other swap was causing me some anxiety.

PeggyO 02/14/2012 #

I'm in for this one!

kittenred 02/15/2012 #

i've switched over, don't want to be rated down for not having the right date on the canceled ink stamp. none of the UK post offices hand cancel :( best chance of getting it done at the sorting office is to post a day or 2 before the 29th.

I am glad that all of you are switching. It was never my intention with the other swap to cause stress. This should be a fun hobby! :-)

papercaper 02/18/2012 #

Ditto - I need leap year fun but I don't need the stress of the other one. Not that it's the swap itself. It's the more humourless swap-bot contingent it may attract.:)

FYI, if it's okay to send until March 3, then that should be the "date items must be sent by."

hereiam 02/22/2012 #

The postcard should be mailed on Leap Day. The extra days are for those that are in a situation where the mail is sent somewhere else before it is stamped so that might take a couple days. My post office sends everything 60 miles south to process. I am lucky that they will hand stamp but if it isn't hand stamped it could be postmarked a couple days after I put it in the mail box. In fact, this processing plant had the highest number of delayed mail in the country in 2010 and it hasn't gotten any better.

Sorry to get off track there. Anyway, the March 3 date allows for processing time. This is, hopefully, an easy going swap as far as ratings go.

I hope what I just posted didn't come off snooty. I was trying to explain my thought process behind the date choice. I appreciate and welcome all guidance and advice. :-)

jellytot 02/23/2012 #

Have also switched to this one! Just a quick question - this is rated 'type 1: electronic', isn't it a type 2?

hereiam 02/23/2012 #

Jellytot - Good catch!! I have changed my mistake. Thank you. :-)

KimmieJo 02/23/2012 #

Switched to this one also. Our mail goes from the post office to a sorting center. Not sure if they hand cancel. Thank you.

Looking at these two categories: See the partners you send to Rate your partners and coordinator When I look at the partner I have to send to it is Claire Niemann with address and email, but when I look at Rate your partners and coordinator it says Melissa Manfredi, but no address. Am I right in sending to Claire Niemann?

pahasiga 02/26/2012 #

You should send to the person who comes up under "See the partners you send to" link with address. The partner you send to and the partner you receive from are different people.

Thanks, pahasiga!

pahasiga 02/27/2012 #

Hm, I guess everyone who presses sent before 29th can be reported as a questionable swapper... ;)

hereiam 02/27/2012 #

Pahasiga - Thank you for helping Sandra. :)

mmaloy 02/28/2012 #

is it too late to participate. I see the date was for 2/24/2012. I would like to dop this with my kids since their grandfather was born on a leap day!

kittenred 02/28/2012 #

I had mine posted for me this afternoon, (I hurt my back and can't walk) then as I put first class stamp on there is a strong chance it will get postmarked on 29th. or possibly even arrive there tomorrow!

hereiam 02/28/2012 #

kittenred, I hope you get better very soon.

mmaloy, I believe that it is too late to join this one.

SandraEC 02/29/2012 #

I opted for the non-hand franked swop as I didn't know the situation in France. When I went in today to post my card the postmistress did hand stamp and in fact, did it twice for me! So next time it's a postcard swop I shall know that I can have a hand franked postmark.

hereiam 02/29/2012 #

Happy Leap Day to everyone!

hereiam 02/29/2012 #

Sandra - That is so cool. :)

MissiveMaven 02/29/2012 #

So thankful that the good souls at my post office are always happy to hand cancel. I got a nice hand cancel on the one I just sent. :-)

hereiam 02/29/2012 #

Hi everyone! Just posting a quick FYI - The reason it looks like so many swappers sent cards on the 28th instead of the 29th is because swappers on the other side of the world are being marked as the 28th on here even though they are sending on the 29th.

They are just more advanced than us. :-O lol :-)

onyx95 02/29/2012 #

Got the PC in the mail and found out that by hand stamping at the PO not only does it get todays post mark, it is post marked from my actuall city instead of the nearest large city which is what it normally does :) bonus info for me today ~ Happy Leap Day all

cluu16 03/ 1/2012 #

i sent mine on the 29th in the afternoon-ish and mine says the 1st of march, hope thats normal! i also clicked the sent button 4 or 5 hours later

ClumsyKisses 03/ 1/2012 #

I did post this yesteerday but only clicked sent today
