USA/Canada only, ratings above 4.6, no recent no-sends, newbies welcome with a filled out profile.

If you like to recycle, use everyday items for crafts, and clean up the odds and ends from your junk drawers, then please join! I will give lots of time before the send date so you can raid those drawers and closets and be creative. We will make a bunch of things since there is ample time and the projects do not require great art or alot of time spent. The idea is to be creative.

Just a few examples to give you an idea are:

  • make a book or puzzle from a cereal box
  • an object made with nuts and bolts
  • coaster made from a plastic lid
  • container made from a toilet paper roll
  • ornament made with an empty thread spool

You get the idea and if there's any questions, please ask. Bring out the tissue boxes, soda can tabs, paper clips, candy boxes, clothes tags, CD cases, etc. and make 4-5 things. Enjoy the challenge and if you can't stop, make more!

I was going to throw away a stained shirt, but made a dusting mit and a gift bag out of it instead.

smilesandsunshine, you have the right idea!

I usually like to make things out of old silverware, neckties, sweaters but I'm branching out into the kind of things that are everyday throw aways like water bottles and CDs.

smilesand sunshine - speaking of the old shirt, have you seen the pattern to make an apron out of a man's shirt? I just ran into it again last night if you're interested.

I just started making vinyl record bowls. They are SO fun. My partner will definitely be getting one.

I'm saving soup cans & toilet paper rolls (I like the shapes)...any ideas or a site I could get ideas from?

Thanks to all of you for signing up! Do a google search, or here are a couple sites I found: www.familycrafts.about.com and search for Trash to Treasure Crafts make-stuff.com/recycling

Pearlie, I have that apron pattern and my husbands too-small shirt. I'd like to try to make it for the swap, if you don't mind me using your idea.

I think I'd better get that pattern. Where can I find it?

I have a Trash to Treasure book and it is wonderful. I got it off my other swap site, paperbackswap.com
