Description:

If you do not know what letterboxing is, it's an activity much like geo-caching. You should have a rubber stamp, an ink pad, and a small notebook. I use an index card notebook because the ink doesn't show through as easily. So you follow directions to find a box containing a rubber stamp, and a notebook. You stamp their book with your stamp and your book with theirs, and usually sign the date and whatnot in both.

Ok. So here's the deal for this swap.

You visit the site www.letterboxing.org, find a box in your area. Make sure to read a bit and find out if it's still "active". People will post if it's missing or something is wrong with it so be sure to keep an eye out for that.

What I would like to do, is use a flat notecard, or both faces of a regular notecard. On the first facing, you should stamp your stamp and tell us a bit about why it is significant to you. BE SURE AND TAKE YOUR NOTECARD ON THE ADVENTURE WITH YOU! As well as your notebook :) You should stamp whatever stamp you find on the notecard, and tell your partner about your adventure! If you do forget your notecard, make sure you just stamp an extra page to include with your note!

I hope this all makes sense! If you have any questions, or anything is unclear, please ask me! This is my first time hosting a swap, so I'm sure there is room for improvement. I'm hoping to have experienced letterboxers, as well as people who have never heard of it! I love finding new things to do, and love knowing that I've shown someone something new as well! I hope we all have fun with this!

I will be checking profiles for ratings. If you are an unrated user, please have a well-filled out profile. I will angel if someone gets flaked on.

Happy boxing :) (and swapping of course)

I'm fascinated. Being in Australia though, what if there are none in my area? Which I don't think there is :-(

Interesting ... but foreign to me also - an Australian. ( looked it up )

This site has active letterboxes from around the world. So, in Australia or if you're traveling to Indonesia ... here you go:

The link above seems to be broken. But I googled letterboxing and my city and I found a great page of all the letterboxes in and around me. I am fascinated. There are so many less than a mile away. I gots to get my shoes on!

Letterboxing is amazing! I go with my nieces and nephews and they love it! To them it is like a treasure hunt. To me it is a great excuse to get out the house and explore! I'm so excited for this swap I hope lots of people join.

I tried to add a new link. I'm sorry I wasn't aware that it was only for North America. Yes @macfeat it's amazing! And thank you @davisbabe for the links. Very helpful! I hope some of you watching will give it a shot! It's so great!

So, on a say, 4x6 blank index card we are to stamp our signature stamp on one side, and the letterbox stamp on the other? Is that correct? Or maybe we could stamp them side-by-side on the card and write the information on the back? I have been letterboxing for several years now and love it.

I love letterboxing and for some reason I stopped doing it. This is a great way to get back into it. Thanks!

latidangie 07/31/2012 #

@suesuzieq Either way is fine as long as you tell us why your stamp is significant to you, and tell us about your adventure. You can do two separate cards if you need the space, or include another page to write on if it doesn't fit on the card.

Really excited for this swap ( I love letetrboxing!!!) and angiedimatt12 you inspired me to host a letterboxing swap for planting a box, using a stamp that your swap partner sends you. Here is the link to the swap if anyone is interested! http://www.swap-bot.com/swap/show/126420

I'm really excited to get into this. The weekend can't come soon enough for me to get out there and go hunt the one I found near me!
