QnT Sweet 16's

--a sweet 16 is a 9"X21-22" cut of 100% cotton quilting fabric

So, how do you buy (or select from your stash) Sweet 16's for this series of swaps? You get 1/4 yard cuts of 4 different fabrics then cut each of those 1/4 yard pieces in half leaving you with two 9"X21-22" cuts of beautiful fabric from each 1/4 yard piece. Send your partner one SWEET 16 from each of the 4 different prints and keep the other SWEET 16's from each 1/4 yard for yourself.

We will have several of these Sweet 16's swaps this year and each one will be with a different theme or color option to choose from.

I found some fun books at the library that are full of patterns and quilt blocks made from Sweet 16 cuts of fabric.

Summary:

--1 partner

--4 RED PRINT Sweet 16's (that's 4 different pieces of 9"X21-22" cuts of 100% cotton quilting fabric)

CLARIFICATION: one partner to receive from you 4 DIFFERENT print Sweet 16's. You will also get to keep a matching set of SWEET 16's for yourself. Note: a 1/4 yard of fabric cut in half equals two 9"X22" pieces or two SWEET 16's. Send one of each to your partner and keep the other for yourself.

Questions are welcome, please don't be shy, post them below!

If possible, I would love to get smaller RED PRINTS, since I use more small prints than large. But I will be happy with any RED Sweet 16's my partner sends!

perkl8r 12/29/2012 #

examples: 1/4 yard of red dotted fabric, cut in half, keep one half and add the other half to a stack to send to your partner

1/4 yard of red floral, cut in half keep one half for yourself, add the other half to the stack to send to your partner

1/4 yard of red star print cut it in half, keep one half for yourself and put the other star print SWEET 16 in the stack for your partner

1/4 yard of red stripe cut in half, keep one SWEET 16, put the other in the stack for your partner

then send the stack of four different SWEET 16's to one partner.

Interesting. I think I get it. I know I have at least 2 fabrics I can do this with now, if I have permission to use prewashed fabric.

Okay, I get the plot now. I assume you're thinking of different colors each month. Finding specifics like a "star" print could be a hassle; I think I'm stacked up enough with swaps to skip this and not think of the hassle element. It's a clever idea -- maybe later on.

I think what perkl8r is doing with her comment is just giving us examples of how to cut the fabric....being very specific with the prints....as long as the fabric reads RED and you pick 4 different prints, you are ok....am I right perkl8r?

@perslarb is a mind reader and has me pegged right on! Thank you buddie for your help. EXACTLY!

@junemoon I hope you join us soon, maybe in another swap for a different color!

Do you have a schedual of what colors/themes you are doing what months? I like buying ahead...

perkl8r 01/ 1/2013 #

Oh, well now lets see.

2 will be blues

3 will be recipients choice

How about those for a start. We'll see what happens after round #2. I'm excited to get a selection of SWEET 16's so I can start making some of the cut scrap quilts I found in a book at the library. Fast, and cute, just what I like!

I can find blues....

I'm so sorry @preslarb for spelling your name wrong in the above message....my speed typing will get me in trouble one of these days!
