**11-12-19 currently working on 2 replacement packages that were stolen from my mailbox. We have had a rash of this in our area. My goal is to have them resent by this Friday the 15th of November. Thank you in advance to my 2 partners for their patience with me.
Greetings from Missouri, the Show-Me state!
My nick-name is Dottie but one of my most favorite names is my swap-bot name, perkl8r.
As many of you may know, I am a Christian, which means that I have accepted Jesus as my savior by confessing my sins to Him and asking Him to come into my life. I believe that He died for my sins and therefore paid my sin debt. I also believe that the grave could not hold Him! I don't know how I would get thru all the things going on in this world today without Him!
If you should ever have any trouble with any of my packages, especially postage, PLEASE let me know. Some time ago I had to send an "I'm Sorry!" gift to some one for a small shortage of postage on a package I sent her. I need to know if things go wrong, PM me....because I'm not happy if my partners are not happy!
My husband and I have been married 46 years in March of 2018. We have two grown daughters. Our youngest daughter and her family, which includes our 3 grandsons, live with us. Boy, do we love those boys!
I love quilting, collecting buttons, and fabric.
My favorite colors to quilt with are teal, aqua, turquoise etc. I also like pastels, especially pink. I like bright colors too, including purple and red, but red is the hardest for me to buy...just can't seem to find that many reds prints that turn my head. I want to thank some very kind swappers for sending me red prints....I love them! I guess I'm looking for them in the wrong places when I go shopping.
My favorite colors to wear are aqua, teal, blues, blacks and light pink.
I have pierced ears and love earrings, with silver my favorite.
I taught a quilting bee at our previous church for 6 years and hope to be able to begin one soon at our new church.
RATING FOR SWAPS: Hey, I totally believe in spreading around the "hearts" when rating my partners. Hearts are free, they are not rationed, so if you take the time to read my profile, or send me extra's, you can count on getting a heart from me. Oh, and I like to get what I give....I've never turned down a heart!
I allow myself to be sad when I send extra's and special things to swappers and then they rate with a five and say things like they loved the package....but don't give a heart. Maybe I'm setting myself up for a let down when I go to the trouble to include extra goodies expecting a heart, and then don't get one. SPOILED, that is what I am! And I need to learn I can't please everyone.....even though I try really hard. Even at my mature age I guess I still have a lot of KID in me!
I love chocolate, especially chocolate covered raisins, and dark chocolates (not too crazy about nuts messing up my chocolate, besides, I'm nutty enough as it is)..love fishing with my grandsons....Avon, especially Timeless, Night Magic...oh, and did I mention the grandsons?!
Anytime you want to send things for the boys, I sure won't turn them down. Let me thank you in advance for thinking of them! They love to take turns opening my swap-bot packages.
My grandsons are 19, 17, and 13. Mateo, the youngest, loves to fish and won his first fishing trophy in May of 2010. Mateo has a very creative mind and if the stories he tells are any sign of what is to come we expect to see him writing his first novel at the age of 15! Mateo won his second fishing trophy in 2016 coming in 6th place right after his brother Felix who took 5th place.
Felix, the middle grandson, likes fishing and is into robotics and Minecraft . He also loves other computer games as well, and is inclined to show some artist drawing abilities which we try to encourage. Felix won his first trophy at the Fishing Derby this year 2016 coming in 5th place.
Felipe, the oldest, also enjoys Minecraft and Pokemon and other computer games. I think he may grow up to be a councilor or advocate of some sort. He tends to be the peace maker in most situations except those involving his brothers of course!
--we LOVE estate auctions where I get quilts, sewing supplies, fabric, books, and lots of other sewing/quilting related items
Authors I like:
Francine Rivers, Janette Oke, Grace Livingston Hill, Phyllis Whitney, Dorothy Eden, Victoria Holt, Daphne Du Maurier, Madeleine Brent also known as Peter O'Donnell,
I like finding new Christian authors, and especially enjoy Christian romances.
About the only TV I watch these days is HGTV and the like.
My husband and I love old black and white movies, including Charlie Chan, Topper, and the Thin Man.
We rediscovered the Invisible Man movies but do not own any copies of these old black & white classics. Our favorite is the Invisible Secret Agent
--love hand embroidery patterns
-- I'd choose silver over gold (especially jewelry)....I wear earrings every day and I like dangle earrings but don't usually like them longer than 2 inches
--- I'd choose blues & greens & purples and pinks (in that order) over any other colors
--- I'd choose floral prints & stripes and sometimes polka dots (polka dots are ok as long as I do not have to wear them), but NEVER plaids, plaids and I do not get along!
-------if wondering what kind of animal print to send me, FISH are always a good choice, birds are a good second choice----they will make me smile!
-----I believe in re-gifting, recycling, and reusing, so please do not be offended if I re-gift an item you might have sent me...but do not worry about me rating you badly If you happen to send me a version of something that is not my favorite....if it meets the swap requirement, you'll get a 5 from me, and if you send extra item's, you'll also get a heart. I look at items that are not my favorites as opportunities to make someone else happy by re-gifting or as something to send as an extra in one of my swaps. It has worked out really well for me.
...I have decided I will not be joining any more swaps where the requirements to join allow swappers with rates lower than 4.8....too high a risk of flakers
...I've also come to the conclusion that swappers who don't rate and don't respond to e-mails are not fun to swap with and I may decide not to deal with them....on that note, PLEASE contact me if you sent me something that I did not acknowledge receiving....I'm old, forgetful and have a lot on my plate and would hate to be guilty of becoming a non-rater. I really appreciate reminders so don't feel bad about contacting me!
-----------I try to always send extra goodies on each swap because I'm happy when my swap-bot partners are happy. Also, if you don't get a swap from me within the reasonable time or I don't rate you in a timely manner please contact me...I always aim to please and I always aim for a heart.
...not a fan of peace signs (BIG fan of peace, just don't care for the commonly used sign)
------not into ATC or stuffies, or matchboxes or Dottee dolls
I keep a spreadsheet of all my partners and records on when and if they receive and rate me for a package, if they've sent a package to me and when I send to them and what I send. I've been known to contact partners regarding all of these issues.
--I shop for fabric and sewing supplies at JoAnn's and one or two quilt shops in my area. d I rarely buy fabric at Wal-Mart.
WISH LIST: American Jane fabric, 1930 reproduction fabric, fat quarters in teal, turquoise, aqua etc....more fabric, and more fabric....vintage buttons....anything embroidered that I can use for labels on my quilts and projects....
Batik fabrics, small print florals
I do not like plaids, plaids and I do NOT get along!
Someone posted this link in another thread recently, and I thought it was really well written and easy to follow, so I copied it to my own profile in my "notes to self" section: Intro to Markdown
By the way, the way I put that link in is to put my desired title in square brackets [Intro to Markdown] and then put the website address in round brackets immediately after that like this:
[Intro to Markdown] (http://www.simpleeditions.com/59001/markdown-an-introduction)
take away the space between [words] (link) and you get Intro to Markdown
TO POST A PICTURE: put ! [ ] (picture here) with NO spaces in between anything 9-2-16
