About Me

Hubby and I work together as cottage parents with at-risk kids. We work specifically with middle school-aged boys and love it!

Our own children are grown. Our oldest, a wonderful daughter teaches pre-school.

Our youngest, a son, has two children of his own both with August birthdays like hubby and I.

Valuable: My Christian faith

Animal: sloth

Color: purple

beverage: Cherry Pepsi

person: my amazing husband

Bible book: James

flower: daisy

Candy: Bottlecaps & Spree

School Subject: English (I taught for several years.)

Book Character: Curious George

Snack Foods: Twinkies or Popcorn

Television: Law & Order (all versions)
And I must confess to being a reality tv junkie!

Odds & Ends: magnets, dog treats, fuzzy socks,

Random Weirdness about me.

I am allergic to chocolate.

I have arthritis,CRPS and fibromyalgia which slows me down, but doesn't stop me.

I grew up in the north, but now live in Florida. And we moved down here to take a job, not to retire.

Candles burning in my house makes me happy.

I LOVE to rearrange furniture; it tortures me to leave it for more than a month or two at a time.

I really do NOT understand the Kawaii craze.

I'm allergic to mushrooms and chocolate.

Birds creep me out. Seriously, they terrify me.

I'm addicted to my planner even though I keep changing the page design I use.

I had never seen washi until I discovered Swap-Bot.

Things I would love to receive

*Fabric of any size, shape, color, style, or pattern. I am obsessed with quilting and fabric crafting. Some of my favorites are polka dots, purples, and plaids. Any dog-related or American patriotic fabric is also awesome!

*Sewing supplies like thread, pins, quilt batting, interfacing, buttons, and any other sewing items you have but will never use. Even open, partial packages are such a sweet blessing to receive.

*Air Force or patriotic items - anything!

*Grandma items as I became a "Gammaw" in August 2015 and a second time in August 2018. *Washi Tape, actually any deco/art tape. This is a new addiction since joining Swap Bot. How did I not know about this amazing stuff before??? LOVE IT!!

*Anything Curious George. A few years ago for our anniversary my hubby bought me a large hardbound book with several Curious George stories bound together. Best gift ever!

Things I prefer NOT to receive

I really hate to have this section, but with my medical history I must.

Please nothing scented. This includes perfumes, lotions, anything! My lupus makes me extremely sensitive to smell. What seems pleasant and mild to you could cause me problems. Candles with a fruity or nature scent are great. If they are too strong for me, my daughter loves to steal them from me.

For the same reason, please do not send anything with smoke or mildew residue or smell. I had a serious reaction not long ago.

And on the weird side, I am allergic to chocolate so I may be the only woman on the planet who would not like to receive chocolate.

I am a Christian so I prefer not to receive anything that is in opposition to my faith. But don't worry, if you do, forgive and move forward is my motto.

My Craftiness

My first love is quilting. I love the creativeness and variety that comes with this great art form.

I also love sewing items like Bible covers, pillows, curtains, mug rugs, pot holders, tote bags, and other little surprises for my friends and the kids we work with.

I am a beginner at paper crafting, but I am liking the fun of creating my own cards to share. I have always loved sending cards, and creating my own is so much fun!

Response: I'm so glad the pc blessed you. I need to rest in that verse more often than I do.

Comment: Great answers (again!). I didn't use it as my answer, but I agree with you on drinking too much soda (I also love cherry cola, as well as "cherry vanilla"). Your mention of all the instruments you've played reminded me of my oldest sister, who also plays many instruments! (Including clarinet, her first.) Thanks for sharing! :-)
Response: Thank you for rating so quickly. I appreciate your detailed feedback.

Response: Aw, we have a print of the same image my aunt gave us when we got married. I love it! I'm so glad my cards are a blessing. I've lost track of which ones I have mailed you so I apologize if you get the same one twice!

Comment: Hi ChrisAnne, One of my favorite hymns is "Be Not Afraid." Thank you for the beautiful nature postcard. It's nice to see something green when we are in a drought. So sorry I spell your name wrong! My bad. Have a blessed day.
Response: Thank you for the kind words about the card. No worries on my name; many people get it wrong.

Comment: Thanks ChrisAnne! Very nice PC so far.
Response: Thank you for the heart and the quick rate. I appreciate both!
Comment: I really enjoyed your answers! It's funny, because ours were so different in many ways but there's still several that I agree with/relate to you on (especially the leggings as pants, which totally slipped my mind when I was answering or I would have said that! I'd also be a Christmas elf, and I love the smell of baking bread!). With the fictional-character-brought-to-life, my mind automatically went to literature; but of course, TV shows (and movies) count, and I'm now thinking of several that I might have answered above the one I did -- oh, well. Finally, I like that you shared a plane with "Nev" and "Max" (I'm out of the loop on a lot of pop culture things but have watched a handful of episodes of that show, as well as Nev's documentary). Thanks again for hosting these and for your great survey answers! :-)
Response: You are too kind. I'm really enjoying these even if no one else joins us. I'll have to start looking out for more questions to keep them going!

Response: Thank you for the quick rating and heart.
Comment: Loved your answers! LOL -- like your son, I have a flip phone (though I've had smart phones in the past) so I'm glad I'm not the only one. Thanks for hosting this, and I look forward to the next batch of questions!

Thank you for all the goodies to use in my zoo junk journal! This is an emblem from our zoo, our beloved Packy. Was just talking with my granddaughter. She can't wait to go back to the zoo!
