Description:

Here's the first swap I'm hosting.

My favourite swaps are related with letter writing, but I always feel a bit disappointed with them and I don't join as regularly as I wished because I'm almost sure I'll get a short letter, I guess every person as an idea about what is short and long letter, but well let me try and maybe the long letters writers out there, with the same concept I have, using swap-bot will find me and join :) I write long letters with passion for ages, what about you? yeah! Make this a great opportunity to find to find someone who also loves long letters, and possibly make a long lasting friendship.

A first letter is always a first impression and perhaps the best opportunity to babble a lot.

..........................................

  • Tell your partner who you are, where you come from, how is the place/city/country where you live. Talk about your family, pets, house, believes, hobbies, dreams, goals, studies, penpalling experience and everything else you can remember, as an introduction.

  • If you normally write long letters because it is a great pleasure to you, then you will not worry about the amount of pages I will set. Write at least FOUR A4 SHEETS (means EIGHT PAGES), you can write longer if you want, that would be awesome, I'm just setting a minimum. If you will use smaller paper, like A5, then don't forget to double the number of sheets/pages

  • You can use stationery or not, make it the way you feel better and you can also include a little something, like a postcard, a tea bag, a pin or maybe a photo. Just do it the way you like it, the way it makes you feel good. Make it PERSONAL.

  • Only HANDWRITTEN letters and make the effort to use real stamps in your envelope to make it more personal. Be creative!

  • Make an effort to read your partner's profile, and show you read it, as we normally do when we find a new penpal and know a little about him/her.

...........................................

  • People WRITING LESS THAN THE STIPULATED (minimum) WILL BE RATED WITH 3 (you don't need to fill the last page until the last line, but I guess you know what I mean). Please don't join if you just want to get something good in your mailbox, but you can't write a long letter.

  • PLEASE RATE 5 when you've got a handwritten letter that meets the length requirements. Everybody has his own definition of 'boring' and 'awesome', if you feel you don't click, it's not exactly your partner's fault. You don't have to answer the letter you received, but I hope that you will want to :)

I will be checking profiles. If you have 1s or 3s, please PM me to explain. Everyone must be in good standing on swap-bot to join. Newbies are welcome with filled-out profiles. Please nobody with a rating below 4.9, thanks.

I welcome people from all the countries, since I'm Portuguese, would be great if this could be an international swap.I'm open to answer your question if you have any. Ask! Help me to make this a super successful swap!

Love, Joana

Great idea, love this kind of swap, but unfortunately I won't be able to join this time: I have exams coming up and in this busy time a week is just not enough time for a really long letter. So, if you'd consider giving it a bit more time, I think, more people would be encouraged to join. If not, I might join if you host another one? Have fun, everyone!

This sounds awesome! Getting a long letter from somebody is always a fun and makes me look forward to getting the mail! I wish I could join this swap, but I have school and a friends' wedding so I am swamped. Maybe next time! :)

Hei Fever! Should I give more time after I assign the partners? As I said this is the first swap I host, so I'm not sure about a few things. Two weeks, sounds good?

Hei ellipse,

yes, two weeks sounds just about right, thank you! I won't be quite done with my exams by then, but I'm signing up anyways - it's going to be a good way of relaxing between all the studying. I'm really looking forward to this. :)

Well, most of people think that a letter needs to be written all at once, you can actually write a long letter in one, two, three days, exactly like a way to relax :) Thank you for joining!

looking forward to this too ^^

I am so super excited about this swap!!! Thank you so much for taking the time to host it Joana! and I agree with you- a letter is much more enjoyable if you write it in sessions, maybe even over a few days, a glass of wine, cup of hot chocolate....a cupcake! :)

This is exciting! Just about to start writing now... but to who? Someone will soon find out... :)

For your first swap, I like how you wrote it and specified what you considered a LONG letter. :) I love long letters, too. If you host this again, let me know, in case I don't catch it. I'd love to send someone a long letter and receive one, too! :)

Hei! Don't forget to rate your partner and coordinator! How was your swap?
