Location:Regional - USA

Last day to signup/drop:February 28, 2013
Date items must be sent by:March 15, 2013
Number of swap partners:3
Description:

In this swap, you will have 3 partners. You will send each partner the starting row of a granny square. Here are the instructions:

Step 1: Ch 6. Join with a sl st to form a ring. (If you want less hole in the center, chain 3 or 4 instead)
Step 2: Ch. 3, 2 dc, ch 2, (3 dc, ch 2) 3 times, sl st to join to the 3rd chain stitch from foundation loop. Fasten off. It should look like this:

Step 3. Safety pin a paper tag to Round 1 of your square with the following:
Your Name (swap-bot name)
Your Address
City, State, Zip

Send 1 of these to each of your 3 partners.

In the next swap in this series, you will add a row to the granny squares you got from your partners in the previous round. Yarn color and pattern is sender's choice, as long as it is 100% acrylic worsted weight yarn.

Before and after you add your row, measure the square. Once the square gets to be 10", mail it to the owner (a tag should still be safety pinned to the center) and send your partner a "new" starter square (see directions above).

Everyone crochets differently, so some squares might come home sooner than others. That is ok, our goal is 10 inch squares. If your square comes home and it is NOT 10 inches yet, feel free to add another row and send it along as if it is someone else's square. That is bound to happen since partners are assigned randomly by the computer.

Any questions, please send me a message. Please no flakers. If you have a rating less than 5.0 please send me a message with explanation. We want swappers that will keep the squares flowing.

this sounds like so much fun, can't wait to start. I have a 4.99 something because one of the swaps I sent got to her late, so she rated me a 3.

the center or starting row of a granny square is know as a granny daughter.

EvetteOgden 02/13/2013 #

i Love that! I will call them "granny daughters" in my next swap of the series!! How fun!

EvetteOgden 02/13/2013 #

Since we are just crocheting a row instead of a whole square, do you think a one week turnaround is good? Then 2 weeks to join the next swap? What do each of you think?

KathyB 02/17/2013 #

This swap sounds like fun! I am joining in.

Can we use a magic circle to make the starting circle instead of a chain? Just curious.

EvetteOgden 02/21/2013 #

@MandiMoore87 yes you can start with a magic circle. No problem.

EvetteOgden 02/22/2013 #

I am going to make our sign up dates and send dates the 1st and 15th so we all know. I posted #2 already. Hopefully it will grow!

EvetteOgden 02/24/2013 #

Round #2 is posted now if you want to sign up early. I hope to see all of you get a lovely square back when they grow to 10" squares"

Cassaluna 03/ 8/2013 #

Is this F gauge?

Cassaluna 03/ 8/2013 #

Or better yet, what gauge are we making these squares?

EvetteOgden 03/18/2013 #

Any gauge is fine. Everyone crochets differently, so just add a row you think looks good.
