Description:

Hello flamboyant mail art div@s! Do you, like me, love making envelopes but after 20 plain and easy ones you get bored? Why not try a challenge? I will give you a task and then you will interpret it as you like!

Challenge #3: Transparent

That's it! This time the envie will be transparent! They say, what matters is on the inside, so save the sparkle and color for when it's time to fill it up. Make one transparent yet sturdy envelope (use plastic film, see-through paper etc.) and send it to your lucky partner.

Inside the envelope send something nice and visually appealing because, obviously, an empty transparent envelope is like a bowl full of nothing for dinner! I will not set a price limit, but keep in mind that you only have one partner and it's more about the whimsy and smiles than a craft store mini-haul.

If you'd like a tutorial, check out this great blog entry: http://www.brinnertime.com/2012/07/transparent-envelope-tutorial.html

The photo in the swap description is from the same blog.

Requirements: no newbies, min. 5 Type2/3 swaps completed, 4.95+ rating, will angel.

Let's get creative!!!

There is going to be a new challenge every three weeks.

Would wax paper be OK as a medium to use?

Havfrue 06/18/2013 #

I had to go to the kitchen to try it out :D I think wax paper can survive a journey if the edges are properly reinforced.

This sounds ridiculously fun! Am especially looking forwarding mailing this one. :)

Is vellum alright to use? It's more translucent than transparent, but still see-throughable.

Havfrue 06/21/2013 #

I think vellum is acceptable. It depends on its thickness, though. It would be boring if everybody in this swap made their envies of plastic, so go ahead with anything you'd like to receive yourself.

I'm thinking washi tape could be a fun addition, either in helping to seal the envelope or as an addition for decorating :)

In moderation, any extra medium is fine, but this swap is more for transparency than decoration. I promise, though, that a deco/washi tape decorated envie swap is coming up soon!
